The NL has home-field advantage in the World Series!
You seriously don’t know what you’re talking about.
The birth of Jason Heyward was God’s punishment for the sins of the people in New York and Philly.
Exactly, but the Braves aren't guaranteed home field throughout the entire playoffs.

Ok, you believe the Braves are a good road team and I'll believe in the truth.
by BravesFan2010 on Aug 25, 2010 5:36 PM EDT up reply actions
You’ll find only two or three teams that have a winning road record, and even then, it’s only by one or two games.
Every team performs much better at home than on the road. Don’t you know that?
The birth of Jason Heyward was God’s punishment for the sins of the people in New York and Philly.
Yankees are 36-26 on the road, Rays are 39-24 on the road, Reds are 36-28 on the road, Padres are 38-27 on the road. So that’s 4 of the best teams in baseball who have a winning record on the road. Out of the 6 teams leading their divisions in baseball, the Braves have by far the worst road record.

A terrible injury.
caused by overstretching the ligaments when your toe jams in the turf.

Why would he not?
we’ve dealt with bad ones before. And just how bad can he be in only two months, pushing for a World Series so he can prove his special status, and in a locker room loaded with strong, dominating, established personalities like Moylan, McCann, Huddy, Wags, Chipper, Lee, Gonzalez, Prado, Diaz, Lowe, Saito, etc.
Werth, Jayson.

To be fair, losing a game after leading 10-1 is not common and certainly isn’t typical of most good teams. You can understand where the immense frustration is coming from, especially this late in the year.
But this team has been strange all year long… having the most last AB wins, having a 9 game losing streak, coming back from a 6 run deficit in the ninth, etc….
It’s just been a weird season.

We also miss Medlen in this kind of games. He would come in a pitch really well in long relief. We don’t have anyone like that right now.

I was thinking if Minor could have come in to pitch for 1 or 2 innings
since he won’t be making his next start.
While it's hard to see a bright side
we got swept and still will begin our next game at least a game up. Obviously the way we lost today especially is beyond painful, if you had told me before this series that we would get swept, with the Phillies at home against Houston, I would have figured we would be out of first by the time we made it back to Atlanta. Hopefully this will light a fire and we’ll get going on another streak, this time one of the winning variety.

And now they are winning 11-10.

I normally would be very upset and worried about the future following a loss like this if this happened at home or any other stadium. But this kind of crazy shit has happened all the time at Coors Field for the last 17 years.
I told the people I was watching the game with not to get too excited because a 10-1 lead means absolutely jack shit in this ball park. The only time you get confident about a lead in Coors Field is when you have recorded 3 outs in the bottom of the 9th inning.
I’m not even that upset about it. It would have been nice to salvage the series, but you almost have to kind of expect this kind of hokus pokus to happen at Coors Field.
Braves just need to take a day off, relax, watch the Phillies try to salvage a series split against the Astros (lol), come home, bash the now-Cantu/Coghlan/Ross/Paulino-less Marlins and the derelict Mets for 7 games while the Phillies are out west.
Thank God the Braves play 20 of their last 35 at home.

Not really. The players are probably numb to this point about losses like this in Coors Field. Bobby after the game will probably give the same old “We played well, it just happens here sometimes” spiel to the press after the game.

It happens, but.........
The Rockies have tossed 12 shutouts this year, and I believe at least half of them were at home.
The Rockies staff ERA at home is 4.07. This isn’t your dad’s Coors Field, in the humidor era.
The average runs per game scored is down about six full runs from the pre-humidor era.

i am kinda intrigued by the numbers. How much of it is the humidor, and how much of it is Colorado having a much better pitching staff than they used to
That's an interesting question, and one I can't fully answer
Rox teams from 2003-2005 were pretty damn mediocre, so I guess you can compare staff home ERA from 2000-2002, to 2003-2005 (I believe ’03 was the first humidor year).
But guys like Cook and Francis were the start of us building a better staff, and by 2007, the pitching was pretty good. Without checking, I’m pretty certain that the years 2007 through 2010 represent the four best team ERAs in club history (2008 excepted, which was an off year).
I do know that 2009 was our best staff ever (and over 100 quality starts). And that the team ERA in 2010 is improved upon 2009, though the pen has shouldered a bigger load this year than last.
If I had to make a wild ass guess, I’d credit about 40% of it to better pitching, and 60% of it to the humidor. Numbers at Coors will still be higher than many parks, just because the outfield is so big. But it’s definitely no longer LOLCOORZ. Games like today happen about 6-8 times a year, not 50-60.

Phillies also have one hell of a road trip coming up…of course this means nothing but our chances on picking up games had to go up

I feel sorry for whoever has to do the recap of this game on here. Typing every word is going to be a painful experience
Scott said his recap would be 2 sentences.

My recap suggestion:
“Braves led 10-1 after 3, but lost 12-10. Fuck Coors Field.”

The turning point of the game was when Jurrjens walked the relief pitcher in his first career plate appearance with 1 out in the 5th inning. He completely unraveled after that.
