Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll

If it's Monday, then it's the Atlanta Braves fan confidence poll. As always, this poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, and general playing ability on the field. The poll will stay open for 48 hours, and then the results will be posted and graphed against the previous weeks.

8 again.

But a slightly weaker 8. The confidence can’t help but go down after losing Chipper for the year.

I’m staying at 8, despite the injuries to Chipper and Kris.

Yesterday’s outburst notwithstanding, I’m not convinced the Braves’ patchwork offense can carry them to the playoffs. I need to see Prado return and Heyward make it through an entire week without a new injury before I vote higher.

Still a 10

Even with the loss of Chipper, because we have the best bench in baseball. Even though we have not been scoring many runs lately, the pitching has been phenomanal. Our minor league system keeps turning out the parts we need to plug in (see Mike Minor) when the injury bug bites. Prado will be coming back in a day or 2. EOF should be ready for the stretch run. Freeman will probably get the September 1st callup and help give Glaus some rest.

I just think not only is there something special about this year’s team, but we have a strong foundation for years to come. And, oh yeah, we are in first place.

Eh. How about 7?

Based on an offense that has disappeared like Carrot Top (who does reappear every once in a while, and boy is he buff), the injuries to Chipper and Medlen, and persistent nagging injuries to Man Called Heyward.

Still…seems like a pretty high number for so many strikes against it amirite? My confidence is bolstered by a starting rotation that is very often lights-out, a bullpen that keeps teams from turning the lights back on, a bench that keeps on delivering clutch hits (see: Brooks, Conrad), an offense that should be much more potent than it has been this month, and a healthy dose of optimism that the stars are aligned for us to make a long awaited appearance in the World Series.

If the offense starts clicking again, I’m easily a 9 this late in the season.

What is both surprising and delightful is that spectators are allowed, and even expected, to join in the vocal part of the game.... There is no reason why the field should not try to put the batsman off his stroke at the critical moment by neatly timed disparagements of his wife's fidelity and his mother's respectability. ~George Bernard Shaw

I think this is my first 7 since the April/May doldrums

And it’s simply a knee-jerk reaction to losing Chipper. Moves up to an 8 if Prado comes back as Prado or we acquire another bat. Hell, I’d move to an 8 if Timmons were up instead of Hicks.

i really wanted to go with an 8

but until FW makes some kind of move at either 1st or 3rd(preferably 1st) i have to stick with a 7. the phillies are not letting up and they should b getting Utley and howard back in the next few days. FW DO SOMETHING!

So, you would rather lose Glaus than improve on 3B?

How does that make ANY sense whatsoever?

I have a feeling that if Glaus hits 10 HRs this next week, you people will still want him on the bench.

The man has hit right in line with his career average for the past week, blasting 2 HRs, hitting a double and lacing a few other balls that were caught, but you guys still think something is wrong with him.

I’ll just sit back and enjoy May in August, and you guys can continue with the FFF movement.

Despite our offensive struggles, our pitching has been outstanding.

We’ve won our last 3 series vs. NYM/HOU/SF and we’re on our way winning to another one against LAD tonight.

We’ve got Prado starting a rehab assignment tonight and should be back for our next series, and I’ve been extremely impressed with our farm system.

My one concern though, the defense… we looked god awful in Houston in and I hope to death we step it up.

Injuries are a part of sports. They’re an unfortunate byproduct that can’t be avoided. That being said, this team has the pitching to win the division. I’m pretty happy where things are. Also, so what if Rollins and Utley are coming back? You never know when or where the next meteor will strike.

Howard, I meant. Not Rollins.

Prado and EOF are also coming back. Injuries are indeed very much a part of sports. The way the Braves have played through all the injuries this year, as opposed to how the Phillies and Mets have done, is one reason I voted 10.

Still a 7. When is the last time we scored 5 or more runs on back-to-back nights? Seems like it was a long time ago.

Pitching 10, Offense 4

Average that out to my vote: 7

I love three 3 things in life: Family, Money, and Baseball. Come March the order of those three get changed up a bit.
