A few questions from a fellow fan.....
Mr. Cox remains undoubtedly one of the best managers still in the game today, and many people believe of all time. Even though I believe this is one of his best managerial jobs in quite some time, (as much as I hate asking this question) do you believe the Atlanta Braves will be a better team without Mr. Cox running the show on the field? Unlike the previous years, this year I have seen Bobby pull pitchers when they should be, make good decisions on who should come outta the bullpen ( this increased with the departure of Jesse Chavez, Bobby's main attribute sometimes also ends up being his biggest downfall) , make great call on pinch hitters, and show us Braves Fans why we love Bobby, so to reiterate the question:
Whats been your opinion of his managing this year?
Will the Braves be better without Bobby next year? (Of course there could be other factors in this)
And do you believe the Braves success partially comes from this year being Bobby's last...It does seem something magical how everything has gone down this year...doesn't it? (Twilight Zone Music)
Who will/should replace Bobby for the upcoming season and years to come.
Just a few questions I have been pondering , and I am sure others have as well, but one can only think of soo many ideas, without hearing from others, so opinions, comments, and remarks would be highly appreciated.
Thankyou for your time,
Ricky
Also, I have attached a poll on a particluar question....If you choose other, then please take the time to explain...Thanks Again....

To me, the question is:
Can someone else get so much out of the constraints Bobby has available year in and out?
Honestly, I don’t know. Much as we bitch about some of his decisions, you can’t argue with his record, nor the testimonials from legions of players who would do anything for him. We’ll find out in 10 1/2 months, I guess.

I predict you will get equal responses for each answer....
because it is an all the above type answer….and the “other” will not be neglected too.
New to the list; After each loss or bad offensive night should the Braves invite Chipper to come limp around the the clubhouse?.
…..he don’t need to say a thing just utter a small moan once in a while……OOOOOOHHHHHHH followed by “can you please drive in that run on third base? You know I would (cue little moistness in the eye) if I could”……
Sorry for writing a script…but I just feel a little giddy after the win yesterday!!!
I disagree with your assessment of the bullpen use.
I think he’s overusing players and bring them in when they shouldn’t be in and using them on consecutive days that sometimes gets up to 4.
Has he used any pitcher 4 consecutive days this season?

I think Saito went 4 in a row during June.
This could entirely be a figment of my imagination, however.

Venters pitched on the 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10 of July – against the Phillies and Mets. That was 4 games in 5 days with an off day after game #3.
Against our division competition (and at that time, the Mets were close too), I have no qualms with using Venters.

Has to be Heyward
imagine the alternative
Also, I am really hoping Bobby sticks around long enough to be ejected from 162 games.

That was my vote, too. I have nightmares where Heyward is languishing in Gwinnett as our team flounders its way to a second place finish. And somehow the Mets still won the Wild Card. I then wake up with a blood-curdling scream. Reaching over to hug my wife for comfort, I find she has been replaced by Joy Behar.
I wake up with a blood-curdling scream. People wonder why I’m so twitchy.
What is both surprising and delightful is that spectators are allowed, and even expected, to join in the vocal part of the game.... There is no reason why the field should not try to put the batsman off his stroke at the critical moment by neatly timed disparagements of his wife's fidelity and his mother's respectability. ~George Bernard Shaw
Bobby Cox doesn’t make pitching mistakes any more often than any other manager out there.
I am just fascinated that the man gets ridiculed for leaving a pitcher in too long, AND for pulling them too early.

Because it isn’t any one thing. It is having a career year from Prado, a good rookie campaign from Heyward, great pitching from the starters, a lock-down bullpen, stepping up from Infante and Cabrera, a healthy non-vision-imparied McCann an the best bench in baseball.
Having one of the all-time greatest managers is just a bonus.

I believe the Braves success this season is due in large part to the depth of the bench.
Whats been your opinion of his managing this year? Pleased. Seems to be pulling no punches this year. Have been enjoying the squeeze plays of late.
Will the Braves be better without Bobby next year? Of course I would like to think so, but my gut tells me there’s going to be a transition period that will adversely affect their play.
And do you believe the Braves success partially comes from this year being Bobby’s last? Yes, to a certain degree. The Braves definitely are playing inspired ball.
Who will/should replace Bobby for the upcoming season and years to come? Guessing either TP or Fredi Gonzalez.
A baseball diamond is, most simply, the intersecting of four 90-foot baselines, and, most powerfully, the intersecting of seemingly random lives.
no doubt Cox is one of the best at managing the personalities in the clubhouse
hopefully the front office will seriously consider the personality traits of their next skipper.
i know everyone is pretty high on Freddie Gonzalez…. I, however, am not.
He sucked all the fun/life out of his Marlins team. He forbid music in the Clubhouse, which anyone who has ever played a team sport knows is a big part of a pre-game psych up. This Braves team is all about having fun and being goofy but at the same time they are all about getting the job done. Freddie, IMO, is not the manager to balance the fun and the business for our teams of the future

Where would the Braves be without the ace, Tim Hudson?
We’ve seen abysmal luck from Kenshin, Medlen received a far better fate, DLowe has pitched tremendously at times and pitched like a rookie others, JJ was out a large chunk of the season, and Tommy has not experienced much luck consistently either.
Huddy just keeps on truckin and has been the stabilizing force of the rotation all year.

My vote as well...
With just about every one of our everyday players going hot and cold at different times throughout the season, he’s really been the mainstay for our team.
Love his veteran presence in the rotation going forward…I hope all of our young guys (majors and minors) can take a hint from this guy about how hard work, dedication and perseverance can pay off in spades.

I voted Huddy ....
too, because he was far more a factor than the choices. There are so many reasons why the Btraves have done well this year.As has been mentioned,Prado especially, has emerged as a upper echelon player. Often overlooked is the consistent play of BMac,who is darn near the best at his position in baseball.
Oh, and Bobby Cox….is not perfect, just very close. I am hoping for Freddy Gonzo to take over as manager(and maybe even bat 3rd!).
