but would be awesome if they amended the rules for getting a W to scorer’s discretion about which pitcher pitched most effectively, as they sometimes do with relievers now. that way, if something like this happened, and the braves won in extra innings, hanson could still be credited.
this would also increase the meaning of a W somewhat, even if it doesn’t compensate for lousy run support.

Just think what he could've done with those 14 division chamnpionships and Greg Maduxx, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz if he would've had the chance.
