I understand he's on the DL with a deeply bruised thumb, but without any broken bones or ligament damage.

However, I've been reading from multiple sources(Yahoo, ESPN, and SI) that this will be an injury that won't be healed until the offseason. Now I'm hearing via Braves.com that there's still a chance he'd be able to play in the All-Star game.

So it's just odd to me that the Braves baby the #1 prospect in the minors, yet allow him to play through injury for a solid month at the big-league level in his first year. Has it been confirmed that this could be something that can bother him all year? Yahoo, ESPN, and SI mentioned it in passing(but it seemed so matter-of-fact). I understand there's always the possibility that injuries like this could linger, but I've heard nothing but positive things from the Braves medical staff and front-office, yet I hear negative things everywhere else.

Not panicking, just wanted to know if anyone has any new information on his status.
