Tonight's Braves Game Will Be A Father-Son Game

I came across the probable pitchers page on Braves.com and the photos of Kris Medlen and Jamie Moyer next to each other made me laugh out loud! Moyer looks all down-trodden and over-it, Medlen looks really excited to be taking a picture. Medlen was born less than a year before Moyer made his Major League debut.

Looking forward to seeing if Diaz can do anything with Moyer.

Heyward is pretty good

Moyer reminds me of the old pitcher from Major League. Watch out for any vaseline balls… lol

Anything to give him another 5 or 6 inches drop on his curveball.

If you ever see him with a jalapeno...

You’ll know why.

Vaughn: What’s that shit on your chest?
Harris: Crisco… Bardol… Vagisil. Any one of them will give you another two to three inches drop on your curve ball. Of course if the umps are watching me real close I’ll rub a little jalapeo up my nose, get it runnin’, and if I need to load the ball up I just… …wipe my nose.
Vaughn: You put snot on the ball?
Harris: I haven’t got an arm like you, kid. I have to put anything on it I can find. Someday you will too.

I dearly love

The way Sheen emphasises the word “snot” in that sequence.

Having Vaughn be a broken down ex-fireballer, a la Frank Tannana in the late 80’s, would be a great place to start if they ever wanted to crack that piggy bank open again.

Funny!

Chelcie Ross (the guy who played that old pitcher) was born 10/1942. The movie was released 4/1989 and presumably filmed prior prior to his birthday in 1988, so he actually would’ve been 46. Moyer is old balls.

Moyer would smile but he forgot to use Poligrip this morning. Also dig the curved bill on his cap compared to Med’s flat bill style.

A baseball diamond is, most simply, the intersecting of four 90-foot baselines, and, most powerfully, the intersecting of seemingly random lives.

Hopefully Medlen’s run support owns up to this fact.

Yep,

JoJo looked just as bad for the G-Braves as he did for the A-Braves. :(

Not-so-random fact: Medlen is undefeated as a starter and the Braves are 9-1 in his starts.

than the last time we faced him.

Apparently this ump has a mancrush on his elder, because he has been as bad a

balls/strikes ump as I have seen since the Livan Hernandez/Eric Gregg debacle.

Howard should never have come up in the 5th, because Ibanez had struck out looking on the 2-2 pitch.

This is an absolute mockery of baseball.
