Mitch Jones question

My apologies for pulling this out of the comments on another post, but my curiosity is killing me.

I know he’s 32 and the consummate AAAA player, but it seems like Mitch Jones would be valuable off the bench against lefties – his VS LH numbers this year are .318/.352/.667. Plus, all I can find on his defense looks slightly positive.

Who’s seen him play with the GBraves this year? Does he play any position besides RF?

Based on his career minor league records, he can play the corner outfield positions and some 1B.

I think its actually somewhat unbelievable that he’s never got a legit shot in the MLs. In 553 AAA games, he has 276 XBH and .893 OPS.

He looks like a late bloomer and could provide some type of value now but he was a different player back when he was in his mid 20’s and not getting any major league chances. He struck out a TON and had some really low batting averages and was already getting into his late 20’s. It hasn’t been until recently that he’s cut down on the K’s and improved his average a little.

His name and numbers have jumped out to me as I read the minor league recaps of late

M. Jones 3-3 HR(15), 2 RBI This was his line in last night’s game.

Watching him this season, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by his outfield defense. He’s not cut out for CF, but he’s a very capable RF or LF. I’ve never seen him at 1B, but I imagine he could handle that pretty well, and he has played there in his career.

He’s really never been given a shot at the Major League level, but as stated by others, he’s really changed his approach and matured at the plate over the last couple years.

I can definitely see Mitch as a september call up and possibly a bench player next year if we don’t keep Glaus and Freeman is starting everyday at first base. Jones looks good in the outfield and comfortable at first base, he would make a mean pitch hitting duo with Eric Hinske.

cbwilk broke down MJ’s career pretty well a few months back. Basically, the dude has never been given a fair shot at the bigs, so we don’t know if he is a true AAAA player or not.

IIRC, cb tends to think that he could be a good bat at the big league level.

This guy wants to suck all the cubs dick can he not have an unbias some what partition reguards
