Braves Acquire Michael Noboa from Dbacks
Hello all, just found out that the Braves have gotten 2B Michael Noboa from the Dbacks for a player to be named later. (substantiated here). After some research, Noboa seems to be a 23 year old playing in the Northwest League. His minor league stats can be found here. Seems to be a defensive player that doesn't hit for power or average. I'm guessing he'll hover around A and possibly AA for the foreseeable future. Anyone hear anything about this guy or have some thoughts?

This is just the timely move Wren needed to make to solidify our lineup. ::joking tone, here::
Nothing wrong with a little minor league spit swap. I’d definitely like to see a more substantial deal made, preferably for a CF, provided it noticeably improves the team and doesn’t upset their chemistry unduly.
What is both surprising and delightful is that spectators are allowed, and even expected, to join in the vocal part of the game.... There is no reason why the field should not try to put the batsman off his stroke at the critical moment by neatly timed disparagements of his wife's fidelity and his mother's respectability. ~George Bernard Shaw
Yep
We’re gonna package him with McLouth and trade ’em both for Andrew McCutchen.
Or Ryan Spilborghs…but they’d have to send us a decent prospect and a bucket of Rocky Mountain Oysters back. Mmm. Oysters.

someone beat you by a mere 7 hours with a FanShot on this big news.
might want to check first next time.
tends to cut down on the clutter.
Has it been confirmed by anyone outside of MLBTR?...
and can anyone explain why we’d trade for low minors space filler?
OK, now this is just completely strange....
The Braves made a minor trade yesterday, acquiring minor league second baseman Michael Noboa from the Arizona Diamondbacks for a player to be named. He was assigned to the Dominican Summer League. Noboa, 5-8, 160 pounds, has hit .196 (57-for-291) with no home runs and 23 RBIs in 117 games, with just six games above the rookie league level.
This trade makes absolutely no sense. Why trade for a DSL guy, at this age, who’s failed in A ball? Gotta think they got an inkling he can pitch (like a Pena Jr, Sergio Santos, etc).

If he had that kind of arm, why would he be a 2B? Wouldn’t that arm be more suited in the OF or at 3B?

Fine, then you explain why we'd give up anything for him...
unless the PTBNL is a contract we want gone.

I have no idea. I’m baffled at this too.

In the end, this will all turn out to be nothing and will just be an example of how too much media attention to everything leads to everyone getting excited over nothing. This was the most minor of minor moves, the PTBNL will probably be cash and we’ll never hear about it. This really didn’t need to be on the MLBTR front page, but somehow it ended up there so a transaction that doesn’t matter, and won’t matter, gets attention it doesn’t deserve.

the question is, ...
why pay cash for such a player, or anything or that matter? Couldn’t we sign some 20 yr old kid if we needed a 2B for the DSL team.
I don’t know. I would think so. It may end up that at some point the DBacks need a player like this and the Braves give him to them. The move really means nothing. And cash could end up being enough to buy a box of balls.

'Tends to cut down on the clutter'
…I think there’s more attempting to un-clutter the board than there is actual productive threads. Seriously, this board doesn’t look in the least bit cluttered. If anything it could use more threads.

Good point
We should make two of everything. I mean, 2 > 1, right?

I believe thats what taylor swift has told me
We have traded away great players for less than nothing and let Texierra walk away, and much much more so pray that Hayward is sent from God and that his energy can ignite the veterans and cause the younger players to hustle more and play winning baseball...
That doesn’t even make sense…
when is Frank Wren going to wake his Ass up and see the Braves needs a Batter? This game Against Washington is Showing the team is not hitting. Get some help are philadelphia is going bnack to First? If you can’t see this maybe john scherhous should replace your stupid ass.

and maybe it’s just me, but the very narrow, angular, anorexic look don’t do it for me.
Yeah, she is legal. She has a pretty face and needs to grow into her body

You are right. I love clicking on 3 or 4 different stories, only to read the same thing each time. THAT’s what this site is missing.
