the Braves in verse...
an outfielder known as Nate/ at hitting was not very great/ and nor could he throw/ but made buckets of dough/ just sitting and not tempting fate...
a salute to wondrous Marteen / as heroic as any have been/ the line drive, the dinger/ he's surely no ringer/ with all those big bombs in between.
the sinker from old Johnny V/ is likely to cause some to pee/ whatever the weather/ they're wondering whether/ to bail when it hits ninety three.
surely Medlen now fits the bill?/ yes in time he probably will/ but he must keep his change/ somewhat out of the range/ of Uggla and others that kill.

Excellent!
I especially like the one for Venters.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." A. Bartlett Giamatti
thanks...
still struggling a bit with the layout here..i’d prefer to lay them out traditionally – one line under the other – but if you do that you can only physically fit two limericks in…which is way short of the minmum of 75 words for a fanpost…so the only situation i can see at the moment is four at a time running across horizontally…
it’s great fun for me though…for about a year i’ve been writing limericks for a small email list i have – usual topics sex/politics/romance/topical etc…to do some for baseball, for the Braves, is a blast.
oh, and you could just compile several and then lay them out traditionally...
if that can get you over the 75 limit. Or also if that’s not enough, some just hit “filler” again and again until they get it. But again, great stuff.
Nothing for Jason? for shaaaaaaame
"Tony Gwynn made sacrifices. Cal Ripken made sacrifices. I'm not sure Derek Jeter made sacrifices given the ungodly deep pockets the Yankees have." - Chipper Jones
Jason's is coming...
the degree of awe to be yet determined…and thinking about him found myself in Jason and the Golden Fleece and Jason and the Argonauts territory…
A Little Heyward off the Cuff...
His arrival saw no delay, for from the beginning we all knew, this kid can play!
Smashing balls for the fun of it, Heyward looks to be the key for Bobby to make one more run of it.
Running the bases the way they should be run, damn this kid has made this season fun!
heh heh
good job! rec’d
