Mark Lemke Was More Clutch Than Hank Aaron?
Over at SB Nation Atlanta, I reveal which hitters in Atlanta Braves history performed the best and worst in clutch situations (relative to their normal performance), using the "Clutch" rating provided at baseball-reference.com.
Needless to say, you'll probably be somewhat surprised by the results. I don't know if I take this stat seriously (it's based on WPA and Leverage Index) but it is fun to think about.

I have read numerous stat analysis articles, including a large project by Baseball Prospectus, and they concluded that “clutch” ability is overrated, as few players produce from year to year. Most of it is luck.

Well obviously...
But these numbers are over a long period of time (>1200 PAs, in many cases a lot more). So this is talking about “year to year” clutchness.
I still don’t really take it seriously, but it’s interesting.
