Statement From Bobby Cox On The Passing Of George Steinbrenner
From Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox (via the Braves media relations folks):
"This is a huge loss for baseball. George was a true winner. I worked for him for 10 years and we got along great. He was tough guy, but he was also very nice and he had a big heart.
I remember when the annual Winter Meetings were really exciting, guys like George Steinbrenner, Ted Turner (Atlanta Braves) and Brad Corbett (Texas Rangers) really made them something to look forward to - they were always the life of the meetings.
George will be greatly missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to the Yankees."
Nice words from our skipper about the Boss. He was a unique figure in the game of baseball.

Will there ever be another like him?
I doubt it.
What is both surprising and delightful is that spectators are allowed, and even expected, to join in the vocal part of the game.... There is no reason why the field should not try to put the batsman off his stroke at the critical moment by neatly timed disparagements of his wife's fidelity and his mother's respectability. ~George Bernard Shaw
Sad day...
Bad week to be a Yankee, but the two who have passed shaped an incredible organization and represented its virtues of class, commitment, winning and wisdom more than anybody… As an owner or announcer it seems the most important thing you can do is impact people’s lives and give them something to take pride in, and there’s absolutely no arguing both Steinbrenner and Sheppard did that.
Go USA, Braves, BU Terriers, Irish, Caps, Colts, Hoyas, NU Cats, Wizards, DC United, Washington Freedom
BU Hockey: National Champions 1971, 1972, 1978, 1995, 2009
Buy back the Braves, Ted
If we don’t have to worry about anybody leaving, we could be looking gooooood for several years to come.
Bobby leaving scares me….
RIP Steinbrenners

Weird place to ask...
How exactly does all of that work?
Do Liberty Media / John Malone do anything?

They sign the paychecks.
Also, they set guidelines as to budgeting and whatnot. But when it comes to baseball decisions (outside of a financial perspective), they let the baseball guys do their thing.

Huge loss to the baseball community
My prayers and thoughts go out to his family and friends and those influenced by the Boss. He was a huge and historical figure in baseball, and the sport owes him a lot of gratitude…
When its all said and done, if the ATL had someone with cavernous pockets who wanted to personally insure humongous salaries, we’d all have been jumping for joy. Guess we need to appreciate that our run was somewhat “organic” and pure, relatively.
Please don't let NYY make the playoffs
I don’t want to hear how they’re dedicating the season to him. I can hear Costas now.
I fed a fish to a pelican and Frisco bay and he tried to eat my cell phone he ran away
i wouldn't say no
to a Yankees-Braves World Series.
It would become known as Battle of the Legacies.
Instant classic to be replayed on ESPN Classic for many years to come.
Atlanta Hawks=the team that drafted big $$$$$$$$$ instead of big men.
It really says alot when at least 50% of the coverage of the man is about how much of a jerk and a demanding person he was.
Not to crap all over the guy who just passed, but still. If all of the memories are about how you are a dick to people on one hand, and on the other how you build hospitals for people, something is messed up.
This guy wants to suck all the cubs dick can he not have an unbias some what partition reguards
