I want to see McCann on Brules Rules
Swinging at baseball pitches and missing? Stop swinging at balls that aren’t over the plate, stupid.
Don’t be a dummy, just swing at strikes.

Who does everyone have in the HRDerby tonight?
I have Miggy in my office pool, beating Hanley in the finals
Miggy is a solid choice.

I believe Bobby Abreu was the first legit casualty of lost of power due to Derby. Then again, he did hit like 30 HRs during that particular Derby. I never heard of ppl losing it before that.

i mean i can see where it could..
you get in that mind set to hit nothing but a HR..and if you didn’t come out of that mind set..yeah it could..but most of these guys i would think are better than that.

I have a feeling this is NL year.
Our pitching is soooo much better than they have in the AL. That will be the difference maker. Plus, we will not have Hoffman closing it out for us. I wonder who will it be this year. Will it be Bell?

BU Hockey: National Champions 1971, 1972, 1978, 1995, 2009
Both pitched scoreless innings. Teheran was a little wild to start, walked two, but settled down and struck out Desmond Jennings. Minor had an easy inning, no strikeouts, no walks
Impressive he K’d Jennings. Jennings has very impressive plate discipline and is major league ready, just goes to show the potential of Teheran’s still fairly raw stuff.

FWIW, I enjoy watching the HR Derby and then the softball game. Agreed that Berman gets annoying by the second swing. Would it be worse to have Chip do it? Every single call would be “BELTED DEEP (insert side of field)! Caught by a kid right behind second!”

Watching Sportscenter
“Plus see why HR Derby Balls travel farther than regular HRs”
Hmm, lemme guess- the ball isn’t being thrown at 90 mph? That may be too much of a stretch though
"Batting second and playing shortstop-he's Cuban. Yeah, his name's Pablo...no, eh, Yunel Escobar, sorry"
I think the segment that's refering to is already up on espn.com
I watched it for some reason….. it’s dumb
Go USA, Braves, BU Terriers, Irish, Caps, Colts, Hoyas, NU Cats, Wizards, DC United, Washington Freedom
BU Hockey: National Champions 1971, 1972, 1978, 1995, 2009
Actually, hitting a ball going 90 mph and using a mirror perfect swing on a ball going 50 would result in the 90 MPH ball going farther
60% of the time, it works every time
I know that, but its obviously easier when the ball is moving 30 mph less
"Batting second and playing shortstop-he's Cuban. Yeah, his name's Pablo...no, eh, Yunel Escobar, sorry"
Well that would lend itself to more homeruns, but the question was father homeruns.
60% of the time, it works every time
WTF

Ortegano might be the best option. to trade
by drumzalicious on Jul 12, 2010 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions
well
IMO, Delgado can be traded, we’ve got Minor and Teheran and Vizcaino. We can only have 5 starters and we already have Hanson and Medlen and JJ. That’s 6 starters already, so I think that one of either Delgado or JJ HOover can be traded

not for Hart. Plus they want MLB ready pitching and Minor is the closest aside from Ortegano.

Corey Hart would look good in a Braves uni, imo

So would Mike Minor
"Batting second and playing shortstop-he's Cuban. Yeah, his name's Pablo...no, eh, Yunel Escobar, sorry"
I agree
Why can’t we have both? Do you know something that I don’t, other than some rumors?
Washington Tribune, June 29 2010 – "The stonecutters carving Stephen Strasburg’s name onto the Washington Monument have been directed to await further instructions."
no, but general consensus is Minor would be the bait for Hart
"Batting second and playing shortstop-he's Cuban. Yeah, his name's Pablo...no, eh, Yunel Escobar, sorry"
Not necessarily
We have several other pitchers that could be used as trade bait also. We have to give up someone good to get someone good in return, that’s just the way it is.
Washington Tribune, June 29 2010 – "The stonecutters carving Stephen Strasburg’s name onto the Washington Monument have been directed to await further instructions."

especially if Nate continues to hit as he has in his rehab starts, and Heyward starts hitting as he did before the injury.

Of the two, Minor was more impressive to me. JT, looked much better as the inning went on, and gained composure, as his nerves settled down. They both have great young talent. Minor having college experience under his belt, looked to be near MLB ready. JT is an exciting young kid, with lots of natural ability. They were both fun to watch!
