Who was the last Braves rookie in the All Star game?

It's hard to say what's been most impressive. The seamless jump from AA? The ability to hit for average? The ability to hit for power? The 18 walks in 111 trips to the plate? The flair for the dramatic? When you're trying to isolate the most impressive aspect of Jason Heyward's game, there's a lot to choose from, and it's only been a month and a half.

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.

Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honor to meet you and you may call me…

Escobar is by far playing the best shortstop in the league this year

And that’s why I have such a hard time thinking about moving on from Esco…the range and arm are ridiculous.

Give Me Ross’s defense with a one run lead

You take away the steal for the most part he throws out runners at a 40% clip, versus around 10% for mac

Mac is usually around 23-24% I believe

just for reference. He’s actually at 26% this year. Rossy is obviously still way better though

The replay didn’t show Nate as doing so.
He did get a glove on it, but didn’t get the out – so, IMO (which ain’t worth much) I think there should be a error on the play if 2 of the defenders collide. Give him a triple and an error, but not a home run.

nate overran the ball pretty clearly on the replay. either way, their communication was horrid and it hasn’t been the first time this season.

question about baseball theory

if a pitcher goes to the 7th inning without allowing a run, then in relief in the 8th a guy gives up an unearned run and makes the game 1-0 with no ERs, and that’s how the game ends, who is the losing pitcher?

by pfoley on Jun 10, 2010 12:29 AM EDT reply actions

who ever gave up the unearned run

Aaron Murray for Heisman!!

And I'm getting really tired of reading knee jerk apologias for him here.

He’s not trying to fail, he’s been valuable to us, he will be again but right now, he’s really struggling. No amount of denial or name calling of the people pointing it out will change that clear and obvious fact. His immediately putting Reynolds on with an HBP (of all things in the world), really set that whole trainwreck up.

My Two cents on "The Hey Train Collision"

The ball was hit into no man’s land and the two guys were going at it full speed not trying to let the ball drop to prevent the run. I am not sure one or the other could hear each other saying I got it considering either one did not have that great of an angle to declare he could catch it. It was just bad luck.

NICE fucking game

We have traded away great players for less than nothing and let Texierra walk away, and much much more so pray that Hayward is sent from God and that his energy can ignite the veterans and cause the younger players to hustle more and play winning baseball...

Except

when the CF doesn’t call for the ball. Still sad though. You hate to see that.

I hate the Phillies so much...

His lack of English

Spread to McLouth, leaving him unable to call off Heyward without the use of the translator, who was sitting in the dugout next to KK. IT’S COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY KK’S FAULT THAT HE LOST

UGH, not much other than KK's performance to be pleased about this one.

At least tomorrow is an earlier game and these damn 1am bed times can stop.
Let’s go for the SPLIT tomorrow (ugh, I hate having to wish for that)
.

(and lookey – I fixed it – still feeling bad about the other one)
