Braves Quote For The Day... Good Value In The Draft
From a Tweet posted by Baseball America's Jim Callis:
Atl #mldraft Day 2: Like it. Cunningham (2) pure bat, Simmons (2) VG arm & SS defense; Leonard (3), Filak (4), Suschak (7) good values. <JC>
As these picks sink in and we learn more about the players, I'm really liking the way this draft is shaping up. As with a lot of Atlanta drafts it could be made even better if they can scoop up some of the under-drafts in the late rounds like Sabol or Alvord, or the Minnis kid they just took out of Kansas.

I’m really liking our draft so far, and from what I can tell, the talent evaluators that I respect most also are liking it. Hopefully some of these position players can rejuvenate that aspect of our farm system (the pitching obviously is fully juvenated already).

We should draft Austin Wilson for the heck of it. If we don’t sign him it wouldn’t hurt to bad since we already have a pretty decent haul.

he went to St Louis in like round 12
and I’m wondering if the lack of a first round pick means the money that would have gone to them ($1-2million) can be divided among some of the underdrafts. Like the rest, I guess we can all just wait and see.
I'd assume they aren't the only ones
including today as well, and yesterday had a few too. They seem like the primary two, but they aren’t alone in having an easy option to continue school.
I was under the impression that the money we saved by losing the first round pick went to Salcedo. But they might be different parts of the budget, I don’t know.
They have called him "like a first round pick"...
but I think the international scouting part has a budget of their own. Who knows if they share with the draft pool or how the FO handles that.
yea
i found that out afterwards. its a shame to
