22nd I think...
drafted past round 30 pickings tend to get slim, with very few guys producing at a high level. See the link…

The 33rd round has been eventful for the Braves. Five players selected have made the show including Tony Gwynn Jr in 2000, Tyler Flowers in 2005 and Craig Kimbrel in 2007 although Gwynn and Kimbrel were both redrafted in subsequent years.
Nick Green and Mark Hendrickson were both 32nd round picks for the Braves although Hendrickson did not sign.
Darell May had a decent season or two for the Royals and was a 46th round pick for the Braves.
That’s about as interesting as it gets on day three.
...fuck lucky charms

Since this is only the second year they’ve had a 3rd day, no. But yeah, VivaLosBravos pointed out some good late rounders. Marcus Giles was a 53rd round pick.

im such a nerd
I read that and thought mario…
"If I have asthma, they won't let me scuba. And if I can’t scuba, then what’s this all been about?? What am I working toward??"
"You look like you should be married to one of the San Diego Padres."
Yeah I mostly like it.
Not as much talking as the first one, which was the worst part of the first one.
My only big complaint is that every time you find a star, you are automatically sent back to the ship, forcing you to walk over to the wheel before you can go to another world. I know it sounds stupid, but it’s getting annoying and I would rather just get sent back to the map so i can go to the next world.

Is anyone else getting a Duluth Buck Naked Underwear flash ad on this page? It’s actually pretty funny for an ad.
Gotta love google...
Ryan Delgado:
5-27 from: – http://baseballdraftreport.com/ – 2010 MLB Draft: Top 30 College Third Base Prospects – 16. Azusa Pacific SR 3B Ryan Delgado – Delgado earned his way on the list because of his ridiculous power numbers over the years, but it certainly doesn’t hurt that Azusa Pacific has one of the most fun college names to say out loud. Try it, you won’t be disappointed. Besides the cool college name and plus power potential, Delgado has a true plus arm and a well above-average overall hit tool. His defense at third isn’t currently at the level where you could project him as above-average professionally, but the tools are there for him at least wind up a decent defensive player at least through his twenties. If it doesn’t work at third, however, there’s a backup plan that I know for a fact is actually Plan A for some teams. Delgado’s future for some teams might be donning the tools of ignorance behind the plate every day. It’s a stretch and it’s based largely on the 3B/C future that could be in store, but I can’t shake the Jake Fox comp for Delgado that I heard way back when.

The 12:05 start time for Mississippi is central...
for anyone interested. That means first pitch in about 20 minutes.
is this the strasburg thread?
We have traded away great players for less than nothing and let Texierra walk away, and much much more so pray that Hayward is sent from God and that his energy can ignite the veterans and cause the younger players to hustle more and play winning baseball...

And was Patriot League P of the Year with a line of 6-2, 2.66 ERA, 5 CG, SV .
Thanks for all the details Mr. Sanchez! I wonder how many of these guys are signable and how many are just flyers
most of them seem like college seniors,...
and therefore easily signable.
And if you want to check yourself, all I’m doing is googling their name, or perhaps their name and “baseball” or name and school.
Committed to Southern Illinois...
Kollin Dowdy
6-2 • 205 • R/R OF
Harrisburg, Ill./Harrisburg HS
Dowdy is a two-time, first-team all-conference outfielder and he played in the 2009 North-South State All-Star game. He is coming off a junior season in which he hit .453 with three home runs and he also swiped 28 bases while leading Harrisburg High School to a 29-5 record. In the past two seasons, Dowdy has been a part of the Harrisburg ball club that has posted a 60-8 record. As a sophomore, Dowdy hit .393 with one home run and 17 doubles while stealing 15 bases. He was plotted as the fourth-best outfielder in the state buy the Illinois Prep Baseball Report and the 42nd top recruit overall. In addition to playing baseball, Dowdy also earned two first team all-conference accolades as a linebacker for the football team, where he served as their leading tackler in 2008 and 2009.
Associate Head Coach Ken Henderson on Kollin Dowdy:
“Kollin has a great combination of power and speed. He is a big kid who is obviously very athletic, as he played linebacker on a good high school football team. He is a tough kid and is a great sign for us. To keep a Southern Illinois kid with his ability at home is huge.”
Harrisburg coach Jay Thompson on Kollin Dowdy:
“He’s a big kid – 6-2, 205 pounds – and a tremendous outfielder. A lot of people said he was the best defensive outfielder they saw this summer. He’s a great power hitter. He’s also a 3.60 GPA student.”
Hard to really say...
the kid may be dying for a chance in the pros, maybe his test score is low and he doesn’t qualify (doubtful with this guy, but perhaps not some others). It may seem doubtful, but there’s always a chance. And I’d assume the Braves speak with most of these guys prior to picking them to gauge their interest.
Looks like a big ol' boy...

Signed with Cal Bears to play TE, but I’m assuming he hasn’t enrolled for summer yet or else I don’t think we could have drafted him. Seems doubtful, but if we can you gotta like his size and potential power.

Concerning the minor league games...
Is there any certain rotation teams consistently use? I’m trying to plan out a Myrtle Beach game and would love to know the pitching rotation in advance. Thanks for any help you guys/gals can provide.
yeah, they appear to use a 5 man rotation to me...
depending on how far ahead you are projecting can be much tougher, but if you’re looking at a week or two away, just look at their last 5 starters, and count them game-by-game going forward. That’s what I did when Rome was coming to Augusta.
Finally one of the guys from my college got picked. Catcher Joe Velleggia in the 40th round to the Orioles. They picked him in the 47th round last year. But, he’s a junior so he’ll probably come back to school.

Joe is one of my boys, but no, the guy I thought was gonna go high hasn’t been picked yet. He’ll just have to go out next year and shove it up their asses and prove some guys wrong.

Is there an easy reference site to check and see a list of all players drafted from a particular school. I wouldn’t mind knowing all the guys that came out my alma mater, IU, for baseball. I’m sure there aren’t many though.
You used to be able to look by state, but I don’t think they have that anymore. Really the best way might be to look at IU’s website. Usually the teams will mention who got picked. You could also look at their roster and check by name. But no, there isn’t an easy way to look by school.

Rounds 43, 44, and 45...
Le Jon Baker, OF from Cali HS
Outfielder Le’Jon Baker (Crenshaw HS) has drawn plenty of looks because of his athletic ability and reputation as a standout football player. Baker, only 16 and a senior, has a great body but is behind in terms of baseball development. This doesn’t mean he isn’t talented enough to catch up, but it does mean that he’s not there yet. Baker’s BP produced soft contact, signs of inexperience and limited power. His second round was better, in which he gave two hard line drives to center field. But Baker lacks time with a wood bat and has inconsistent hands. He can run in a flat, but hasn’t learned to transfer his speed to baseball movements yet, which makes his times to first slower than they should be. All of these things don’t eliminate him as a prospect worth following, but do point out factors he must improve to compete for a pro contract.

Waiting on Myrtle Beach to start
20 year old Randall Delgado facing 24-year old Terry Doyle. Should be a good pitching match-up. Unfortunately, that means that, once again, Randall will be lacking in run support. Maybe Mycal Jones can provide a boost.
