Braves Take 3B/CF Todd Cunningham With Second Pick In 2010 MLB Draft
The Atlanta Braves selected Todd Cunningham with their second pick in the 2010 MLB First Year Player Draft. Cunningham is a Junior outfielder from Jacksonville State University in Alabama. He won the batting title in last year's wooden bat Cape Cod League.
There are some concerns that he may not fit well in the outfield, and the Braves may plan to move him to third base. Much like their first pick, Cunningham also has excellent speed, and brings an overall offensive threat to the plate.

A lady I work with son plays with him at Jacksonville State. She just freaked out when I told her, haha. Anyways, she says he is a really humble, respectable kid.
must’ve been a fun conversation

played outfield and shortstop this season for coach Jim Case’s Gamecocks, but the Braves project him as a third baseman

You suppose he’d be any relation to Ritchie?

From projectprospect:
Todd Cunningham, OF, Jacksonville State University
Cunningham gets overlooked at times because he’s a small school guy without huge tools. Cunningham is a steady, high-floor prospect with a solid all-around skill set. Cunningham proved he can hang with the big boys in the 2009 Cape Cod League, hitting .378/.458/.500.
An extremely well-balanced hitter, Cunningham may not have much more than average power but should be an above-average hitter. His bat doesn’t profile as the ideal corner masher, but Cunningham is a plus runner (21 for 23 stealing bases) and should be able to hold down a solid center field. Other players on this list will have higher upsides, but Cunningham is very likely to reach his potential as a slightly above-average everyday player.

so it looks like if we decide to move him to 3B, we are looking at a Adrian Beltre/ Chone Figgins type player. Myabe not steals of Figgins.
Those may not be great comparisons, but its what popped into my head.
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?

Or perhaps Sandoval with Speed
Is that off base?

So between the fact that he’s a college hitter and a “high-floor” guy, should we expect him to skip rookie ball? Or maybe just have a quick cameo there? At his age, and having already succeeded in the Cape Cod league, I can’t imagine he has much to prove against 18 and 19 year olds.

Would it be a bad idea to send him right to A+ at MB? It might be a good idea because:
1. Would test his realitively advanced skills and age
2. Would put him on a faster track to impact the major league team
3. Could help a pretty poor hitting MB team
3. Not likely to damage his development in my opinion
Jason Heyward wins at baseball.
Hahaha

Chipper's replacement
on a fast track. Seems interesting.

Yep agreed BeantownVol
At last we are taking potiental and true 3B prospects; I could care less that the guy can play CF we need a chipper replacement asap and looks like we have found at least one or two in this draft.
Well hopefully , lol.

You focus on that..
instead of the unlikely spot we found “a chipper replacement asap” in 35-50+ pick in the draft?
Seriously man, sometimes just let it slide. Especially when it comes from people who constantly post foolishness.
Can’t help it. My personal crusade.

If we’re going to split hairs, then I suppose I should point out that “My personal crusade.” is not a grammatically correct sentence……..
