I hope we get...
Kaleb Cowart, Delino Deshiels (not junior), or Edward Salcedo in the first round. I’ve heard good things about that Salcedo kid. He’d be a helluva draft pick.
Glad I don't follow it just like I don't follow recruiting in football

If you want to stay somewhere, you must play at a certain level. And you have to be willing to make sacrifices. Tony Gwynn made sacrifices. Cal Ripken made sacrifices. I’m not sure Derek Jeter made sacrifices given the ungodly deep pockets [the Yankees] have.

It's not an unwritten rule
It’s just common sense. Wagner is not going two innings. So if we hold them, then we take the lead, who goes in? Jesse Chavez probably.
what if....
Wagner shuts them down.
Then the braves score in the bottom of the 12th. Could we get 2 runs in? Sure, maybe chavez gives up a run or two… but then… it would be tied again…. But the point is… wags would have given us a chance to win. The “closer” role is so stupid.
What is the difference between Wags in the 11th or wags in the 12th?

Your closer is your best bullpen pitcher. You don’t waste your best bullpen pitcher when the game is tied and is in no sight of ending.
MUST RECONFIGURE STRIKEZONE PARAMETERS TO ACCOUNT FOR FALLIBLE HUMAN UMPIRE - CyborgHanson48
Actually….I’d disagree, in this game especially…..and here’s why.
The Dodgers had a head start on us in burning out their bullpen. So, if we’d just gone through our relievers in order of best to worst, we could’ve outlasted them. We’d get down to their worst reliever, who is the only one left, with his arm already tired, and he’d give up several runs.
"Never doubt Derek Lowe's ability to win despite himself."
by EricGreggWasPaidOff on Jun 6, 2010 7:59 PM EDT up reply actions
And you know this how? We didn’t score any runs. In order to win we had to score at least one more run. We did not do that. As long as we did not score the game wasn’t going to end so you don’t use your closer until you’re trying to end the game.
MUST RECONFIGURE STRIKEZONE PARAMETERS TO ACCOUNT FOR FALLIBLE HUMAN UMPIRE - CyborgHanson48
It’s a fairly safe bet that you’re going to score some runs once you get down to a scrub pitcher (see: Chavez, Jesse), and especially if he can’t throw the ball harder than 70mph anymore because he’s already gone a couple innings.

i don't understand the chavez-bashing
sure, he’s not the greatest, and he gave up the game-winning hit, but if our defense doesn’t perform like shit, and if we hit better (especially with key opportunities and RISP and NOT FLAILING AT BALLS TO END A RALLY) then chavez wouldn’t have been used.
it was a team loss today.
problem is he does it repetitively. He just cannot get hitters out. He never has been able too and there is no reason why he is on this team over a Stephen Marek or Mike Dunn or Craig KImbrel

(I don’t think the Braves have lost a game in which they scored 5+ runs.)
Jason Heyward is the reason that Chuck Norris parks his car in a garage.
Duh, I forgot they did use a pitch hitter but why FUCKIN CHAVEZ!!!!!!! Get Resop or Dunn up here now. He might be as bad as Jo Blow Reyes
I wasn’t mad when Heyward struck out to end the game a day or two ago. But we all have reason to be mad that Chavez even poked his head out of the dugout. I feel bad for the man, but I don’t know why he pitches.
Chavez as a kid: Chavez now. WALKS KILL! Join the CIA, or stop walking people.

Um, JoJo Reyes!?!
It's deja vu all over again.

Hi
When Saito comes back, send Chavez down to Myrtle Beach and keep Kimbrel!
Losing hurts :(
