Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll

If it's Monday, then it's the Atlanta Braves fan confidence poll. As always, this poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, and general playing ability on the field. The poll will stay open for 48 hours, and then the results will be posted and graphed against the previous weeks.

You do realise he was sent down.

And with Saito ready to return from the DL...

he’s probably going right back down (although there is possibly Kimbrel to get more work).

Nice to get a day off and really allow some guys to heal up. We know they could use it.

Early poll results show.....

…this fan confidence poll could be the new high for the season. Things are looking good! Go Braves!

It's got to be a 9.

This Braves team has looked fantastic lately. Hopefully we can take two out of three from the White Sox and continue our ridiculous run of not losing series. Also, yesterday looks like a sign that Heyward is coming around. Yes, he struck out once and went 1-3 but he also drew two walks. Chipper won’t be retiring at the end of the season if he keeps hitting like he is now. This teams has such great morale and unity and this has been created by Hinske and Ross. Hinske is such a gamer! I can’t say enough about this Braves team, clearly. Anyway, GO BRAVES!!

I voted 9, my highest grade of the year. Beating Tampa and Minnesota shows the Braves are for real. The great thing is the team will only get better with Diaz, Jurrjens, and Saito coming back soon. If Chipper has really solved his hitting problems, then the Braves could pull away from the rest of the division.

Still at a 10

Have been most of the season. Playing as well as we have, with all the injuries. Tons of pitching in the minors. A good draft of position players. Taking 4 of 6 from Tampa Bay and Minn. Sweeping the Royals. 5/6 on the homestand. 2.5 games atop the Mets and 5.5 atop the Phils. Definitely headed in the right direction.

Chipper Jones is coming around with the bat, so is Yunel, the team is looking oodles better with McLouth on the DL, we’ve got Saito, Jurrjens, and Diaz all on their way back fairly soon, and we’ve got Jason Heyward. Farm system is flush with pitching-Teheran and Delgado continue to impress, Minor’s strikeouts aren’t going anywhere, and even though Vizcaino has struggled a bit following his promotion, he’s still a 19 year old in high A.

Oh, and despite our issues in CF and left, we’re the highest scoring offense in the National League. Yes, that’s right-this offense, which draws tons of complaints, scores more than any other team in the league, even the almighty Phillies (who, seriously, are down at 6th. Jeff Schultz needs to get over them).

Best record in the National League would be worth a few more tens, I thought.

I voted 8 purely because I don’t like the fact that the team is not owned by an individual who cares about winning. As far as the gm on down I’d vote a 9.

+1

I not only agree, but voted the same way shortly after the poll went up. Too many people cast their vote solely on the performance of the ML team. It’s like they don’t even read what they should be considering in this particular poll. Yeah, I’d vote a 10 too if it was just on the performance/results of the Atlanta team.

I’m confused about the 1’s and 2’s. If there’s anyone here who seriously believes that this is a lousy organization, and isn’t just voting low to troll Braves fans, I’m really interested in finding out why you feel that way.

My highest voting of the year, too…In all honesty, I was more impressed by the sweep of the Royals than the wins over Minny and Tampa…Don’t get me wrong, those were huge series wins, for they prove that we can play (and beat) anyone…

I just like the fight the team showed against a feisty underdog in KC…To not only win that series, but to sweep, was a testament to the focus this team has…Some teams would’ve just thrown in the mental towel yesterday, but not this team…We weren’t content with just a series win against KC, we wanted (and got) the sweep…

Go Braves!

About a month ago I decided to vote 8 and stay there, no more roller coaster for me. Now I’m thinking about riding that roller coaster up to a 9.

Heyward is pretty good

by bighop on Jun 21, 2010 11:36 AM EDT reply actions

I have likewise stayed consistently at '8'...

…but I’m waiting to see what happens over the next month or so before bumping that up. Several key things are on the horizon:
1. JJ’s return and what happens with KK as a result; I would anticipate KK going to long relief, but JJ hasn’t exactly been ‘lights-out’ in his rehab starts so far, so that could be another week off.
2. The return of Matty D and/or Nate and how those changes are handled. I would like to see Nate (at least) work his way back with several minor league starts to see if his bat can be found.
3. The idea of a trade for a left-or-center fielder. I’ll avoid rosterbation talk here, but how Wren deals with that (and the expendability of 1-2 OFs as a result) would influence my vote quite a bit.

You make 3 excellent points. I’m a little nervous about Jurrjens, he hasn’t been the same since the shoulder issue at the start of ST. And a solid piece for LF or CF could seriously put this team over the top. I’m happy with Cabrera and Hinske, but I could be happier!

I’m at the highest I’ve ever been at a 9.

Winning the series against the Twins and Rays really showed the depth and heart this team has right now…and all that with Heyward and Chipper struggling. Both seem to be coming around too, so watch out!!

by Sparhawk on Jun 21, 2010 12:46 PM EDT reply actions

Staying at 8. That’s pretty much a 10 from me. Unless the pitch for the final out in the World Series is in mid flight, it probably won’t get any higher.

We have been playing good baseball lately, though we only played good enough to beat the Royals in the last series. I don’t think we would have gotten away with what we did if we were playing a better team.

The braves have the best record in the NL, with 2 more wins and 1 less loss than anyone else. The myrtle beach rotation is the best in the minors. Why not vote a 10?

love this team and the balance they have all over the diamond. I really hope meds stays in the rotation n KK can take martinez’s spot as the long man in the pen or blowout situations.. it is sorta sad when u think of the kind of production we could be getting if nate was actually playing like the guy we traded for, though. melky has filled in just fine but he just doesnt seem like a natural CF on D. I dont mean to nitpick bc obviously they are just fine as is right now, but i wouldnt mind getting a guy like Dejuses from KC- would def make that lineup dominate 1-8

I'm up from 8 to 9.

I love this team. I think some of the new ones that have been on winning teams of late, have brought that mindset with them to Atlanta! This team has a “never give up” attitude. Even those that are slow or injured, hustle around the bases.
This team has a winning spirit! I feel we have the ability to be playing in the WS come October.
This team is So much fun to watch:)

How much are you guys weighing the current team

And the overall organization? Everytime I see one of these, I can only consider Vizcaino and Teheran tearing up the minor leagues, however, most of the comments mention only the Atlanta results.

I try to weigh it like this: 50% the MLB team on the field, while the rest is a combination of the farm system, the team we’ll be putting out the next two or three seasons, and the results of the front office. For the year, FW has gotten a solid A+ from me for getting Glaus and Hinske on the cheap, and Wagner is looking great as well. And in the farm system, while the lack of great hitters is bothersome, the kickass Myrtle Beach rotation is worth a C+ by itself, and when I toss in a few other names like Minor, Lopez, Salcedo, Freeman, and Bethancourt, I’m giving the farm a B+. And the core team that we’ll have in place in for 2011 and 2012 looks really good on paper as well.

In truth, I’m probably not a true 10, but I’m definitely above a 9, and there’s no 9.5.

by Bronn on Jun 21, 2010 3:16 PM EDT reply actions

I'm almost all the big club...

the minors play a part, especially with the amount of depth and talent we’re forming, the ease in signing so many recent picks, etc. But they are all minor leaguers and those guys are often not what they are hyped to be. Projecting 2-3 years out in a roster is also pretty rough since you just don’t know how things change. Would any of us have predicted KJ gone in 2007 or 2008? That Chipper would fall off a cliff at the plate compared to his batting title in 08, if asked in that winter? If we were projecting future rosters after 05 and the Baby Braves, how off would we have been when so many of those guys faltered?

I tend to focus on the big club for the reasons stated: the precarious success rate of minor league players, the chances they get dealt for other players, and the unexpected changes in players production from one year to the next, even among MLB veterans.

by Mr. Sanchez on Jun 21, 2010 3:25 PM EDT up reply actions

I focus on the big club, but consider that the Braves farm is considered a top 5 or 6 group of prospects.

Been ridin’ an 8 for a while now. Since we took 2/3 from the team that, at the time, had the best record in the majors and then swept a team that, on paper, we’re suppose to sweep… yeah, I had to take it up to a 9 this week. I love this team. A lot.

by Sarahbeth on Jun 21, 2010 5:05 PM EDT reply actions

10'd

We just beat up on one of the best teams in the AL (Rays) and everyone always brags how much better the AL east is compared to every other league. We took their best and won. I wish we played the mutts this week so we could put them where they belong in the division about 4th. I’m tired of running into mets fans that think they actually have a good team cause they managed to sweep two awful teams.

Sorry to rant, but its been on my mind.

by jdeuel3868 on Jun 21, 2010 6:17 PM EDT reply actions

Great bullpen, great rotation, an offense that performs in the clutch, great arms in the minors. Compared to last year I couldn’t be happier with the team.

So, 10.
