Atlanta Braves Minor League Recap: 6/20
Gwinnett 7, Syracuse 4
Takashi Saito made his first rehab appearance for Gwinnett tonight, throwing a scoreless 1st inning. He was relieved by Ryne Reynsoso, who picked up his first AAA win. Freddie Freeman continued his solid week, extending his hitting streak to 9 games while driving in a pair of runs. JC Boscan is on a roll of his own, going 4-8 in his last 3 games with a double and a homer.
Mississippi 5, Carolina 4
Antoan Richardson and Alejandro Machado got things done at the top of the order for the second night in a row, combining to go 4-6 with a triple, a homer, and a pair of walks and stolen bases. Jacob Thompson had his best start in a month and a half, holding the Mudcats to 2 runs over 6.2 frames.
Myrtle Beach 5, Frederick 2
Randall Delgado pitched well as always and, as always, the Pelicans couldn't score enough to get him the win. He's winless in his last 6 starts, despite a 2.17 ERA in those games. Myke Jones extends his hit streak to 10 games. Hopefully he can stay hot when the team returns from the All-Star break on Thursday. Scott Proctor took the true reliever rehab test, pitching on back to back days and he passed, throwing a perfect inning and getting the win.
Rome 1, Charleston 0
Todd Cunningham made his professional debut tonight, playing right field. He managed to throw a runner out at second base and collect his first professional hit on a 7th inning bunt single. Caleb Brewer has been outstanding since joining the team. In 3 starts he allowed just a .140 average against with a 0.56 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP. The only knock on him so far is that he's walking too many, with 8 walks to just 7 strikeouts. Steve Kent has also been great in his return from Tommy John surgery, throwing 3.2 scoreless while striking out 6 in his 3 appearances.

Josh Anderson
Can someone tell me why the Braves brought back Josh Anderson? It seems to me that when McClouth and Diaz come off the DL that there is not going to be room room for all of these outfielders. It also seems like this will take away playing time from Matt Young and Jordan Schafer.
I think the entire purpose was to restock Gwinnet with outfielders while the pair that you mentioned are on DL. He’s just organizational fodder at this point, though if he becomes something a bit more useful, where’s the problem?
Not to mention Clevlen on the shelf too...
Gwinnett needed another OF, so I don’t see the problem. When/If we get Diaz, McLouth, and Clevlen healthy, without losing anyone else, he can be moved aside to make room. I doubt he’s taking at bats away from guys like Schafer expect when JS needs the rest.

dunn has a sexy era
and schafer still in gwinnett?
Yes, he is...
on the long road back from a wrist injury that made it pretty much immobile for months. It’ll take time, and a full year in Gwinnett should do him good.

from what i've noticed he's gotten a few games off in the last week or two...
which is probably a good thing. I’m interested to see his second half numbers, becuase he’s done a better job of getting base hits this month vs. last month, but his power has dropped and his obp hasn’t really gone up much either considering the significant jump in avg.

of the group of speedsters…LV Ware, Kyle Rose, Miles, Brooks and Harrilchak which one has the best chance at the majors…they are all so young and most of it is just projection and none of them has any power. but their speed is ridiculous for the whole group and I’m interested in which of these guys has the best chance of staying around and primarily which one has the best ability to use that speed by actually getting on base.
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?

Robert Brooks? Still have to see if he’s actually going to play (he is on Danville’s roster again) and if he didn’t lose his speed with the leg injury. Miles just won’t be good enough to hit at all at the higher levels. And as much as I love them Ware and Harrilchak propfile as fringe outfielders. Both are good enough to make the Majors, but they have to hit at every level and maintain their speed because they have virtually no pop. Rose has a long way to go with the bat, but his speed, despite the caught stealings, is unreal, and there are plenty of guys with much less hitting ability than him who have played inthe Majors (Esix Snead jumps to mind).
Of the guys who are racking up some steals you didn’t even mention Myke Jones, who has a better chance than all of them because of his athleticism and his position. Even if he ends up having to shift over to 2B because his arm doesn’t profile well for SS, you’re still looking at an Orlando Hudson type 2B.
I wrote a novel, it's about baseball, you should buy it: https://www.createspace.com/3407939

I had Myke jones on there and than thought better, bc for some reason i thought he didnt have great speed, but i have no reason for thinking that outside of nonsensical ramblings in my brain.
and thank you CB
