There was a former mlb umpire who used to do my high school and college games
biggest piece of shit ever. I was getting an award one year and he was the “featured guest speaker” at the banquet, and he bragged about all the different ways he threw people out of games. Really gave me a bad impression of umpires in general. On top of that he was a huge douche during games.

I should have qualified that by saying we are "playing like" one of the worst teams in baseball...
What pisses me off is that this team had the potential to be an elite team this year. If I thought we were going to suck, I would not be all that disappointed that we ended up being a bad team. Some help on offense and our pitchers getting healthy/more consistent and we could be really good.

I will make a note of this and I will eat a big pile of crow if we are 2 games back of the Phillies in 2 months without making a major move to bolster our lineup.

Our lineup isn’t horrible, but a lot of our lineup is playing pretty horribly at this point. Chipper, McLouth, Glaus, Diaz and the like are hitting worse than they should be. If they hit like they normally do, we’ll be fine.

All of those guys turning things around...
is a lot to ask for. If we made a move and brought in a great hitter, it would do a ton to turn things around right now IMO. With Prado and Heyward playing so well, the addition of one more big bat might be enough to jump start the offense. It’s obviously not a guarantee, but sticking with what we have now is not going to get the job done IMO.

The astros were just that bad. If we played 2 quality teams, we’d be sitting at a 15 game losing streak. This team has some serious flaws.
