Gwinnett 5, Pawtucket 6
Wes Timmons extends his hit streak to 5 games, and he's 11-20 with 3 doubles, a triple, and 5 RBI in that span. Freddie Freeman has a 5 game hitting streak of his own going and is 9-16 with 3 doubles and 4 RBI to go with 5 walks and just 1 strikeout in those games. The people who were writing him off after the first week of the season look pretty riduculous now. Luis Bolivar has 3 hits in his first 7 at bats with Gwinnett. This was Chirs Resop's first poor start of the year and it still wasn't that bad. He's been a pleasant surprise in the G-Braves rotation.
Mississippi - off
Myrtle Beach 9, Potomac 1
Australian Matt Kennelly had one of the best games of his professional career as he drove in 5 runs, most of them coming on a 7th inning grand slam, and even added a stolen base, the second of his career. Every starter for the Pelicans had a hit except shortstop Ryan Barba, with everyone except Cole Miles having a multiple hit game. This was a rare offensive outfburst for the team and hopefully it will start a trend. Randall Delgado had his best start of the young season, striking out 7 while only walking 1. He's been good two starts in a row, combining for 12 innings, allowing just 3 earned runs while walking just 3 and striking out 14. It's possible the adjustment period is over for him and he's about ready to start dominating the Carolina League.
Rome 5, Hagerstown 11
Rome has lost 10 of their last 12 and games like this have to be wearing on the players' psyches. Chris Masters continued his dominant work, allowing just 1 run over the first 7 frames, then Cory Rasmus, who's been arguably the team's best reliever, allows 4 runs, 2 earned, in just one third of an inning. But, to be fair, he was aided by 2 errors by catcher Braeden Schlehuber and one by right fielder Robby Hefflinger. Tom Berryhill, who had also been great this season, and got the R-Braves out of the 8th by inducing a double play, allowed 6 runs, 5 earned in the 9th. Myke Jones has a nice rebound after makinghis own defensive miscues last night with a pair of hits, including a double, and Jordan Schafer picks up another single as he rehabs his wrist. Cory Harrilchak was 0-4, but he did earn a promotion to Myrtle Beach after the game.

What in the world is going on in Rome? I remember myself along with pretty much everyone else on TC thinking that Rome would be a tough team to beat all year. I guess not…

This. The Rome team is young. Most of the guys are 19 or 20 while the rest of the teams have guys who are 21 or 22. The Braves consistently have teams that are younger than average in A ball which is why they pretty consistently lose. I know the players like to win, but it’s about developing a kid’s talent, and I think that’s happening pretty well for most of the guys.

Right.
Just like the Danville team is consistently a year or so older than their competition, so they tend to win a lot. Just the way it happens with how we have our minors set up.

Prior to the season, it was pretty well established that down in the As, there was a wealth of starting pitching, but not a whole lot of offense. Now I didn’t expect to be seeing Rome losing every single night like this, but the silver lining that we’re all probably tired of hearing is how well the starting pitching is doing before errors, lack of offense, and bullpen implosions are costing games. It really will be interesting to see what happens in the draft this year, to see if the Braves will continue to focus on pitching, or if they’ll actually look for guys who can swing the lumber.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
considering this draft is supposed to be...
light on the lumber but strong on the arms, I’d doubt it. Plus, you can never have too much good pitching.

This kid is really starting to step it up. He’s getting better and better he may even reach AA before the all-star break.
M-Braves
Does anyone know where I can see the upcoming pitching match-ups for the M-Braves?
They don’t usually put them any more than a day or so ahead, so you kind of have to figure it out for yourself. If you go to milb.com you can look at the past boxscores and work out what the rotation is and get a good idea of who’s going to be pitching when.
