And..... 1st place...
I was going to put something like "Told you so" or "See!!!" but those would have carried a negative connotation. That is certainly not the intention of this post. I guess I just wanted to give a collective message to the masses, and was inspired this afternoon, as I'm sure everyone else was. There has been great pleasure the past few years beating the Phils, and seeing our Golden Child do it at that, well, it rules.
The message? Oh yeah. I tend to ramble in order to hit the requisite number of words.
Just, basically, this is a season. There was SO much negativity and vile b.s. coming from nearly every post, that I know that I personally stayed away from TC for longer than was cool. Even when I came back to test the waters there was nearly nothing about any silver linings or actual content worth reading. It seemed that there were a handful of others doing/thinking the same thing, and there were plenty of "PLEASE STOP" threads.
So, here we are, in 1st (F*#&ING) place, and singing a different tune. I'm not immature enough to think that we'll stay dominate in first the rest of the season, although I'd like that and its definitely possible, but the season is a marathon, and we arent fair-weather fans on this blog. Its great to be happy, and we've now seen what our A-squad can do. And they freaking rule.
So, lets enjoy this, and root and root, but please, lets save it with the "BRAVES TO THE WS!!!! PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS!!!!" type posts and if we take a tanking, lets PLEASE, avoid the "Fire Pendleton" and "FIRE SALE" threads. Thanks. Maybe a collective thanks for anyone else who feels the same.
And, please dont be that guy who goes back and takes my posts that were negative during the 9 game losing streak and re-post them here as evidence of hypocrisy. 9 games is a lot to lose.
GO BRAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I agree...
…count me as a Braves fan, who even with the team winning, would still not be disappointed for TP being let go.

That's a whole other issue, Torii Hunter.
And hey, we aren’t the Metropolitans here, at least he can speak English to 80% of our ballclub.

I doubt that
he’d be willing to hold the reigns over for a year and then graciously step back to make way for Freddi to take over.
Either Eddie Perez gets the job for a year or TP gets it and then goes on to another club to try to manage somewhere else. In that case, I am perfectly fine with Chipper as the Batting Coach, seeing as he already is the de facto guy now – showing tape, giving scouting reports, etc.

Hmmm...
I hadn’t read that quote anywhere…. Do you have a link for the interview? If he really said that, I’m praying he changes his mind.

The birth of Jason Heyward was God’s punishment for the sins of the people in New York and Philly.
I still wish...
we could get decent offensive production from CF….come on Nate, catch the offensive fever!

I’m starting to think I want Melky out there…and that’s kinda scary.

Ha ha. Well what’s actually scary is that I’m starting to feel like I understand some of the Yankees fans appreciation for him. Ugh, Yankees.

welcome
theres plenty of room inside
Finally if you gave this organization over a 5 you are not very bright or a very avid fan. We have traded away great players for less than nothing and let Texierra walk away, and much much more so pray that Hayward is sent from God and that his energy can ignite the veterans and cause the younger players to hustle more and play winning baseball more because if your not doing that when Hayward is on the field then you are looking like a complete fool because Hayward is hands down the best baseball player at 20 that this league has ever seen and he will win triple crowns and championships but watch closely because they Braves should offer a ten year deal right now for 100 million but they will penny pinch and pay him what his contract says for 3 or 4 years and at the last second they will try to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox for his services in free agency but will loose miserably.
Good lord…wall of text sig.

Grammar nazi alert:
Sorry to bring this up in this thread, instead of in a game thread (where I see it most often), but I’ve seen this a lot lately, and it’s buggin’ the hell out of me.
Dominate – verb
Dominant – adjective
We don’t want the Braves to ‘stay dominate’, because that makes no sense. We want them to stay dominant.
Aside from that, I agree with what you’re saying. :)
I get the point of that post but
what’s with the ratzi thing?
...in dixie land i'll take my stand to root for Atlanta
I’m also a grammar nazi. Every little mistake gets on my nerves, and I just have to correct it.
It's deja vu all over again.

A person who complains about someone else’s grammar or vocabulary is frequently referred to as a ‘grammar nazi’ on these interweb things. I just went ahead and saved everyone the trouble of calling me out for it.
You called it?? No, I called it...
FWIW, I’m looking for a turnaround to start this week.
Brewers come in off a sweep, but we can probably do some damage against the first two pitchers they throw at us. Gallardo has been excellent lately, but two days of feasting on their other starters should really help our team going into that game.
After that, we don’t play world-beaters (we have the D-Backs, Mets, Reds, Pirates, Marlins, Pirates upcoming) until the end of the month, when we get the Phils again. I think we can pick up at least a few games during that stretch and get a little hot ourselves.
Of those teams, only the Mets have shown consistently above average pitching this season. The D-Backs, Reds and Pirates are the worst in the majors right now.
So buck up, Braves fans. We’re going to get a little help from our schedule this month, and we can easily be back to where we thought we’d be by June.
