Gwinnett 4, Louisville 0
- W. Timmons 1-3 RBI, BB, .262 Avg
- M. Jones 2-4 2B, RBI, .240 Avg
- T. Redmond 9IP 0H 0R 2BB 3K 4.79 ERA
Todd Redmond might have been the last guy in the Braves organization I expected to throw a no hitter. Well maybe not the last guy but he just isn't one of the people you think of when you are talking about potential no hit bids. But damn if he didn't prove me wrong tonight! He worked efficiently throwing just 105 pitches with 66 for strikes. He gave up nearly twice as many flyballs as grounders but he still faced just one batter over the minimum. Overall a fantastic game for him and something to build on going forward.
Wilmington 4, Myrtle Beach 3
- C. Miles 2-3 2B, CS(7), .253 Avg
- B. Oberholtzer 7IP 8H 3R 0BB 3K 5.67 ERA
After being positively terrible for his first 4 starts for the Pelicans Brett Oberholtzer appears to have figured something out. Interestingly his peripherals are pretty similar to what he posted in the Sally League but with about twice as many hits allowed. Could be he was just getting hit unlucky there for a hot minute and now things are normalizing.I still don't understand why Chris Masters didn't get the call here as well.
Mississippi 8, Mobile 6
- A. Richardson 2-4 RBI, K, .556 Avg
- W. Cabrera 3-5 2B, 2 RBI, K, .331 Avg
- E. Duncan 2-2 2B, RBI, .314 Avg
Mississippi scored all 8 of their runs in the 8th and 9th innings to overcome a 5 runs deficit for the win. As you can see Willie Cabrera pushed his Avg up to .331 on the season and doesn't appear to be cooling off any time soon. He is among the league leaders in Avg and doubles so far this season. I wouldn't mind a LF who hits a bunch of doubles and knows how to take a walk. Also for those who weren't aware Antoan Richardson up there is another journeyman minor leaguer that the Braves have picked up to spark their punchless minor league offenses.
Savannah 0, Rome 4
- K. Rose 2-3 2 SB(14), .280 Avg
- C. Harrilchak 3-4 K, SB(10), CS(8), .279 Avg
- A. Vizcaino 8IP 4H 0R 0BB 7K 2.73 ERA
Braves pitching prospects put up some fantastic performances tonight. In his last 3 games Arodys Vizcaino put up this line: 23.2IP 12H 0ER 0BB 21K. That is pretty fantastic. The only thing I can really nitpick at is flyball rate which has been escalating recently (3 GB vs 13 FB tonight). Other than that he has easily filled the shoes of recently promoted Julio Teheran.
