Anyone else starting to really worry about this guy? Obviously he hasn't just forgotten how to hit after improving with each season in the bigs.........but man does he look awful right now. I just expect weak grounders in every one of his AB's. I don't see anything wrong with his mechanics, but this is the first time he's really struggled in his big-league career(probably in his entire baseball career). Maybe he's just trying too hard to break out of it?
But what are the chances that he's still hurt? We all know how big his ego is and he could definitely be a guy who would hide injuries.
Whatever the case, Chipper and Escobar have to start doing something productive. Chipper is taking a ton of walks, but I think that's due to the fact that his bat speed just isn't what it used to be. Not even close, from the looks of it.
How long will Chipper continue to bat 3rd with Heyward as hot as he is? If Chipper is going to be in the lineup, he's better served getting on base infront of a guy that's probably the best hitter on the team. Heyward has proved that he's not fazed by the pressure, so I don't think putting him in such a big spot in the lineup is going to hurt him or the team much at all.
