Braves Quote For The Day II... 'I was swinging like a girl'
From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Nate McLouth explains how he's pulling out of his slump:
The early struggles are hard to explain, given McLouth's ultra-mechanical and compact swing, but he had a similar stretch with the Pirates two years ago and emerged unscathed.
"I've been doing a lot of extra work in the cage and the video room, keeping in mind that it's a long season," he said.
And the problem was?
"I was swinging like a girl."
Nice quote. I tend to think that he was dropping his back leg and uppercutting too much as well as changing the plane of his swing, but I'll also accept that he was "swinging like a girl."

Nasty seems like a pretty solid dude and a really hard worker. He’s really easy to root for.
This team has tons of guys like that, actually. The only one that seems like a legitimate douche at times is Yunel…

THANKS!
I just want to give a big THANKS to the TC community, Gondeee and everyone who monitors the info and writes up the fantastic articles. It really makes it much easier and enjoyable to follow the Braves now. Keep up the great work!
"You guys. You lollygag the ball around the infield. You lollygag your way down to first. You lollygag in and out of the dugout. You know what that makes you? Larry!"

None taken
Though I could see it being more offensive if the saying he chose weren’t as socially acceptable. Something like, “I was swinging like…”

Awww, justin. How sweet of you. But you don’t have to apologize for other people’s shortsightedness and insults to members of their own fanbase. I’m not hurt (I’m far too jaded), but I do think it was a thoughtless thing to say to the females who are either faithful fans in their own right or else support their loved ones’ fanship…dom…whatever. Anyway, I’ve got some seam ripping and picture deleting to go do.
No problem with me...
I am a WOMAN, not a girl.

I still think McLouth’s swing is a bit long. If he could shorten it up and bit and make it more compact and stop trying to drive everything out of the park, I think he would be better off in the long run. He needs to utilize his speed more.
