Southern League notebook
More praise for Mike Minor, this time coming from Tom Glavine, another "soft tossing" lefty who managed to stick in the bigs and do alright for himself. Frank Wren is also pretty impressed, apparently: "Take away about six pitches all year and he's been nearly perfect. He could come very fast." The article also confirms that he's hitting 94-95 this year on the gun.

Good stuff. Thanks.
I liked this quote:
Tom Glavine, a special assistant with Atlanta, saw Minor pitch against the Lookouts and left impressed.
“He was extremely dominant,” said Glavine, who won 305 Major League games. “He can pitch and he has a good idea of what he’s doing. He’s definitely on his way.”
If you really want to fail with blockquotes, you can just keep adding empty boxes until it makes a trippy looking rectangle-in-rectangle pattern.
Wow that is cool!

Damn good stuff...
and makes you think if we had another starter go down closer to July or August, he might get the call. Either way, I’m thinking if he can developing, and stay healthy, there’s our 5th starter next year and with him, plus Teheran and Delgado possibly ready by 2012, JJ could be expendable this off season. That is if we can’t find a taker for Lowe or Kawakami.
If you get compliments like that coming from Glavine, you must be good. I’m glad Glavine is doing things for our organization

I agree. Now if only Maddux would have worked for our front office too. That would have been a lot of pitching knowledge between those two. Then add Smoltz to it all…he’d provide the comedy relief. :)

Maddux is wif da Cubbies right now….i wonder if he’d come to the Braves? That being said, do you think he’d be a good manager? Just a little thought that popped into my mind.
Yeah I hate to admit it but I love Smoltzy and his lame jokes. Joe Simpson seems to like him more than Chip.

Mad Dog might be a little quirky to be a manger for me.
