Around SBN: Falling Action: Best and Worst of UFC 146

Actually, being DFA'ed might be a new one. He was traded for an equally terrible outfielder last year, then selected off waivers. Perhaps this is a new way to get cast off. Shame about him, I had a lot of high hopes for him after his 05 performance.

Arizona is really changing their bullpen. First Howry was released, now Boyer.

Poor Boyer indeed

He is just one of those guys that sticks around because of his live arm but has always walked too many, been too hittable, and didn’t have the strikeouts to match his velocity. The warning signs were there.

Just glad they waited til after our series to do all this.

Someone needs to draw up a correlation between childhood stars and baby Braves.

Brandon W: "What's up Heyward?"
Jason H: "Hangin with Freddie, What you up to Brandon?"
Brandon W: "nothing much."

I think we have his protege now, Chavez.

Acosta may have been Boyer’s protege. Chavez is just the next in line

Third DFA...

Might be the first time he get outright released, though.

I saw him through 96 – 98mph the other night. That’s too bad that someone can throw that hard and have trouble getting guys out.

by Sparhawk on May 18, 2010 3:35 PM EDT reply actions

You mean throw?

Jason Heyward bunted once, and it ended up being a homer.

Argh, hate this for him. The wives just threw a baby shower for Ginsey and baby Boyer during the game Sunday.

by Lizziebeth on May 18, 2010 3:40 PM EDT reply actions

D-back wives or Braves wives?

by FitzFan on May 18, 2010 4:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Both...

and a Mets wife. Think of it as a Baby Braves wives reunion. :)

Ginsey?

Ginsey Boyer, Blaine’s (very sweet) wife.

by Lizziebeth on May 18, 2010 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Ha, Poor Blaine.

Man how bad do you have to suck when the league’s worst bullpen DFA’s you; Braves where smart to get away from the guy. Granted he had a great 05’ season but never came close to matching those efforts in future seasons.

Of course we traded him for Brian Barton who is nothing special at all so that should tell you something about Boyer.

I just hope we are not dumb enough to pick him up again which is very tipcal of the Braves to go out and get back players that they once thought or had success with. I just hope in this case we stay away.

Go Braves
