Braves to retire Glavine's #47 on August 6th
A well deserved honor for a guy that was great for us for a lot of years.

I figured they’d do it this year. Looks like i need to order tickets.

I wonder if they’ll wait until next season for Smoltz? They are gonna have to do some re-arranging in the Braves Museum since i’m sure they’ll be adding exhibits for Glavine and Bobby at the end of the season and for Smoltz whenever they officially retire his number.
They may have to hospitalize Sid Bream!

Unless Smoltz officially announces his retirement soon, I think they will wait until next season. If Smoltz was to come out and retire by June 1 or so, they may go ahead and do it in early September though, since Bobby would still be in uniform then.
Shouldn't Wes Timmons get a shot at 3B over that Chipper guy everybody talks about?

Wren: “John, we’re gonna retire your number on August 28th.”
JS: “I haven’t retired, I still might come back”
(awkward silence)
Wren: “Well, I can say with great certainty that you won’t play for the Braves again. So……can you make it?”

That would be funny!
I lucked into a ticket for the “on field batting experience” a few weeks ago, and Smoltzie waltzed onto the scene to visit with the guys (of course I nearly dropped my big ass camera, but managed to recover when I remembered he left me for a blonde, butanyway), and it was interesting to watch the non-dynamic between the two. JS politely but pointedly spoke to and shook everyone’s hand, except for FW. Just walked past him. For his part, FW didn’t even look JS’s way, until JS was all the way around to the visitor’s side talking and laughing with Charlie Manuel, like “Oh? oh.”
