Braves Minor League Recap: 4/24
Gwinnett 8, Durham 7
Gregor Blanco stays hot; he's 6 for his last 12 with two 3 hit games surrounding an 0-fer. Freddie Freeman continues to prove the doubters wrong, collecting 2 hits to make him 9 for his last 16. Brandon Hicks continues to turn things around as well, collecting 3 hits, including a 2 run homer, his first of the year. He's 5 for his last 8, but, unfortunately, his average remains below the Mendoza line. Chris Resop puts up another solid performance as a starter; the Braves may just be on to something with this one. Jeff Lyman had a rough night, walking the only three batters he faced. Unfortunately Cory Gearrin, who relieved Lyman, allowed all three of them to score, though he didn't give up any of his own runs in 2 innings. Craig Kimbrel finally allowed a runner to cross the plate on him, as he gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of work.
Mississippi vs. Montgomery, postponed, rain
Myrtle Beach 4, Kinston 7
Gerry Rodriguez has been one of the most consistent hitters in the system; it seems like every night he's having an impact on the game. Matt Kennelly does some damage with a 2 run triple. A triple is the most exciting play in baseball and it's even more exciting when a catcher hits one. Adam Milligan continues to struggle, he's just 2 for his last 20, both singles, and has struck out 9 times over that span, walking just once. Randall Delgado has a rough start, his first poor one of the season. He didn't walk anyone, but he victimized himself by giving up a pair of homers and making a couple of errors.
Rome 3, Charleston 4, 12 innings
The R-Braves must be the most generous team in the organization because they've played a bunch of free baseball this week. Myke Jones drives in a pair of runs with a single, but it's just his second hit in his last 27 at bats. But Matt Weaver is going strong, with 3 straight 2 hit games, making him 6 for his last 13. 4 walks in 4.1 innings is too many, but Julio Teheran's torrid start to the season continues as he strikes out 7, giving him 22 in 19.2 innings this season. Paul Clemens continues his great start as well, giving up just 1 run in 4.1 innings. After a somewhat middling year with Rome last year he defninitely needed to repeat the level, and he's showing the progress he needed to, allowing just 2 earned runs in 12.1 innings so far while striking out 11.

Still in extended ST and is about to start taking swings, according to FW a few days ago.

M-Braves Bullpen - Just Doing Work!
by Seeer on Apr 24, 2010 10:48 PM EDT
The Mississippi Braves Bullpen of Steve Marek, Brett Butts, Lee Hyde, Mike Broadway, Brandon Beachy, and Tommy Palica need to be recognized. In 53.1 innings pitched, this group has struck out 69 and walked only 17 while carrying a micro ERA of 0.84! Kudo guys! Pitching Coach Marty Reed has done a remarkable job in his two years at Mississippi. I’m sure Marek, Butts, and Hyde won’t be in Mississippi much longer!! M-Braves are currently in 1st place in the South Division .
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
thank youuuu

Can someone remind me of what Palica throws, he’s got 15 K in his first 7.2 IP so something really must be working for him.
legalize it, don't criticize it.
I played with Palica in 18-Under travel ball
He’s a lefty with OK stuff with a lot of pitches (fastball, curve, slider, splitter, and change up). His fastball isn’t fast at all, but get’s lots of K’s!

That’s cool, he may be in the Majors some day.

I hope so, even though the Braves have a crapload of solid bullpen prospects in the high and low minors.

Thanks!
I’m starting to get into minor league ball. I might even go to GBraves game, that would be interesting. The food is probably cheaper too! Does anyone else know what G’s record is? Please post it here! Thanks!

Cheaper food?
Keep dreaming. As long as parks are supplied by the same vendors, costs remain the same. It’s like going to the dollar theater; sure it costs a buck for admission but a coke still costs $4.50.

So how long until Teheran is in high A ball?

Is it offensive to call Teheran, Vizacaino, and Delgado the Three Amigos? I’m excited about that group.
Here are Pujols's stats: 1.000/1.000/4.000/5.000. That's right. He is batting a thousand, with a thousand OBP (naturally), and every hit has been a home run, and thus his OPS is a perfect 5.000.
Not really offensive, I’m excited too. I think Teheran is like only 18, 19? by the way, just a little note to the TC people: Heyward is still on your prospects list. Not really a prospect anymore, though! Just thought I’d let ya know.

prospect lists get updated once at the all-star break and twice during the offseason if i remember correctly, its not updated daily, so as soon as we do another propsect ranking, Heyward will no longer be on the list.
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?

So who will be in the majors out of all these outstanding prospects- I’m sure of Freeman, Hyde, Kimbrel, Gearrin, Minor, Teheran, Viscanizo, Delgado

New Fab Five – Hyde, Kimbrel, Butts, Lyman, and Gearrin. Would have added 6 if Venters had not already gotten the call! I believe all of these guys will be in the big leagues by 2011 if not sooner. This give the Braves a nice assorment of arms as they all bring something different to the mount. I look for these guys to make up the G-Braves Bullpen very soon!
