Tim Hudson Gives Back
Tim Hudson has long been one of the most charitable players on the Braves, and he seems to be upping the ante at every turn. Here is his latest philanthropic endeavor.
Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson returned to the place where his career took off, and what he brought with him, Hudson hopes, will allow many more baseball players to flourish.
Along with his wife, Kim, Hudson donated $200,000 on Monday to the Chattahoochee Valley Community College baseball program — the single largest donation in the junior college’s history. According to Alabama Community College Conference commissioner Al Cox, it is the largest baseball donation ever for the 22-team conference.
Another reason that I'm glad we kept Tim Hudson in a Braves uniform. I'd actually like to see him finish his career in Atlanta. He may not rank up there with the Glavine, Maddux, Smoltz elite of Braves pitchers over the last two decades, but there may come a time in the near future when we do think of him in the same mold. Right now he means almost as much to the Braves and Atlanta as any of those guys did during their heyday. No, he might not be Cy Young caliber, but he's an ace pitcher on a team that needs ace pitchers.

He's definitely our #1 pitcher and I'm fine with that.
He’s a #2 on any other team too.

I dunno if I can include Hanson and JJ as #1's yet. JJ's a 2.0 in my eyes, and Hanson a 2.4.

Well, I suppose which team you are talking about. But I have no qualms about them poitching on any given day and matching up well. Also, Lowe is somehow a #1, althoug his stats, other than wins, are not that good.
Pretty much.
This team has no clear #1 starter, but it has 4 #2 starters. Kinda strange.

4 # 2s and a #3. But in the long run, whoever is pitching on any given day is your #1 for that game.
7 #2s, 3 #4s, 2 #3s, and a #5
And can I also get an apple turnover?

How long does Huddy have left in a Braves uniform with his current contract? I’m thinking 1 year.

so...
We can count on
JJ
Hanson
Huddy
And then the world ends. Well its good until then.
What about DLowe and KK?

I have more trust in KK than in Low right now.

Stand up guy
I know his stats won’t say it and there’s more to be nervous about with Huddy than some of our HOF locks, but ive come to love this guy more than most Braves in history. He’s ALWAYS been there and pushing for us since we signed him.

I’m glad our rotation is full of young talent combined with experience. I hope Hudson holds out and Lowe also seemed to run out of gas at the end.

Lowe has averaged around 209 innings per year, over the past 5 years. So his total from last year was right in that range. I think Hudson’s arm will be just fine, especially with his shoulder strengthend as well. I do agree that we hav a good blend of youth and experience, that should serve us well this year.
Tim Hudson is just a good dude.
I would root for him even if he weren’t on the Braves. I’m so glad that he is, though.

Good Dude
He may never win a Cy Young, but I am always most comfortable with him on the mound, for what its worth. Love having him on the roster. He really seems like one of those guys that crosses the clubhouse line and becomes a leader of the team and not just the pitching staff.
Cy Youngs or Roberto Clementes?
Who cares if he’s not a Cy Young award winning caliber pitcher? He’s clearly more than qualified for Roberto Clemente awards, and it’s laughable that he doesn’t have one of those yet.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Was just about to fanshot that!
Just adding on that the Hudson Family Foundation team raised $22,760 for the Walk for Wishes this past Saturday at Atlantic Station. That’s enough for at least 3 children to get their wishes. As far as I know, we (Talking Chop) didn’t get the $500 prize from the SBN survey challenge, but I still want to give a big thanks to everyone who took the time to fill out that survey to give any worthwhile cause a consideration. Please consider donating a couple of hours a week or a day a month to a worthwhile cause in your area – every little bit counts.

Kim, as co-chair, thanking everyone for participating:

Several members of the HFF team walking together (in light blue “Give” & grey HFF shirts and Braves tops) – you can just see Kim on the far right giving her son a piggyback ride. Ronnie Snitker and Gloria McDowell & her girls were the other Braves wives walking (further back in the crowd), as well as Patty Rasmussen from Chop Talk:

The Bulldog
There’s a number of reasons why he’s one of my top two favourites in the league. This just adds to it. Baseball is about community and this man embodies that ideal. He’s good for the game, both of the mound and on.

Tim Hudson is a great human being who pitches well. End of story. I’m proud he plays for the Braves.
War Damn Huddy
I love that this isn’t even the 5th time i’ve heard of him doing something like this. I met him at a charity event back in college. Outstanding guy
