I can’t imagine him playing again after this season, good year or not.

It’s early, but I’ve had that thought too. If Glaus has a good year, and Chipper retires, I’d have to assume that we’d look at extending Glaus and moving him to 3B.
IF Chipper retires, AND...
we don’t feel Hicks or Linares (or another internal option like maybe Infante at 2nd with Prado at 3rd) can fill the void, the only attractive free agents next year would be possibly Adrian Beltre and Aramis Ramirez (both have options for next year that may or may not be picked up). Here’s to hoping Chipper can bounce back and have at least two more solid seasons (including this one) before Hicks, Linares, or perhaps Salcedo can get ready. If Hicks can produce at the plate this year, he becomes the obvious internal option.

With Hinske playing well...
I’d hope we’d give him another start today, and let Chipper get two more days of rest with the off day tomorrow. Why push it for someone who constantly has nagging issues.
Given the off day...
…I doubt we let him play today. It wouldn’t make much sense.
