Thoughts on Heyward and Any Video of his 1st Bomb?
I know it's spring training but there has to be video somewhere right? I'm more of a quiet observer on Talking Chop for awhile but with the Heyward Legend continuing to grow I thought I'd jump in. Honestly, I expect him to basically set the world on fire for the first month of the season, then major league pitching to somewhat consistently get him out to the tune of some mid season ups and downs but still a ROY campaign. I think the o/u on his BA and homers should be about .278 and 17.5 and I expect him to be over the former but not necessarily the latter. Anyway, just thought I'd jump in with some thoughts on the next Braves stud and if anyone has come across the video, I'd love to see it.

Braves 2005 was the most underrated season.

I’d ask how it’s possible to hit 17.5 homers, but if anyone could do it Heyward could.

Would Freeman's blast count as .25 HRs?..
maybe twice this year, Heyward hits a blast so hard he passes the man on 1B as they stare in awed reverence.
Who is this Heyward kid that everyone keeps talking about?

Pujols is NOT God.... sure he'll hit .350, hit 50 bombs, and drive in a 125....but then again...so will Heyward..

I listen to Mike and Mike sometimes, and big mike will occasionally give the Falcons their due. Neither tend to give the Braves any love. I guess this can change a man. I didn’t “hear” the difference off the bat as many others have, but he sure can put a charge on an inside fastball.

Just for some perspective
I am the only Braves fan in my fantasy league. There are currently FOUR teams named after Heyward:
Hammerin-Heywards
Heywardja Blowme
Disciples of Heyward
Jason Heyward-Bey (I dont find that funny)
Somehow it looks like I am not going to be able to sneak in picking Heyward around the 14th round like I had been hoping.

That’s what I’m afraid of in my main league…

Yup
I snaked Hanson right at the end of the draft last year, he wasn’t on anyones radar that doesn’t get into prospect watching real in depth.
Unfortunately I am not interested in missing out on J-Hey, so I will probably end up overdrafting him super high. Oh well.

i did the same…i had no chance of competing in my keeper league last year..so i drafted Hanson, Kershaw, and Matusz…and then a bunch of similar position players.
needless to say i set myself up nicely for this year…i actually have too many pitchers and not enough keepers. Grienke, Hanson< Kershaw, Cain,
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?
by fatazfoot on Jan 7, 2009 8:59 PM EST
It’s really not a bad idea. That’s what I love about keeper leagues, is that if the manager is forward thinking enough he can pull a worst-to-first pretty easily. One team in my league was pretty terrible for the majority of last season, but going into this year he has his first 8 or 9 picks available b/c he’s got great value with Sandoval, Ethier, N. Cruz, and Reynolds in the later rounds…so he’s in pretty good shape.

careful with punctuation typos
Hanson < Kershaw doesn’t look good in print
I think Grienke+Hanson < Kershaw+Cain is what he was saying…so there really isn’t a typo there.

the 2nd best thing about that link was discovering a new favorite player name:

Nice guy, even though he doesn’t speak a lick of English:

That glove was sweet. I actually asked if he would put it up so it could be in the pic.

Nice. It just reminds me of all of those gloves that kids in T-ball have – the plastic blue, green, red and whatever other colors.

Good one
Getting royhobbs to: 1) lose A LOT of weight, and 2) getting him to dress up and let you take his picture, full face on. Just so you could pass him off as some new phenom you discovered.
Man, that CBwilk is an asshole.
Seriously, great picture. Cool glove. Bet you’re loving that camera!
