Community Projections: Braves Outfielders
Much like yesterday when we projected the AVG, OPS, and HRs for the Braves infielders, today we'll tackle the Braves outfield. A lot of this will obviously be due to how much playing time each player will get.
Copy and paste the below players into a comment and guess their 2010 AVG, OPS, and HR total.
Nate McLouth
Matt Diaz
Melky Cabrera
Jason Heyward
My guesses are after the jump.
Nate McLouth - .285 / .870 / 24
Matt Diaz - .325 / .870 / 15
Melky Cabrera - .279 / .735 / 12
Jason Heyward - .311 / .845 / 22
Commentary: I think McLouth will improve on his 2008 numbers and rebound from his injury-riddled 2009. Diaz and Melky will stay about the same, and Heyward will come on in the second half of the season.

Far be it from me to boast, except in the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world was crucified to me, and I to the world.

Can you answer me one question?
How long have you been following Heyward? Well I’m not trying to put a damper on anyones day but Heyward hasn’t played 1 full season healthy yet. While many of his injuries have been minor they have kept him out of games. Plus adding the fact that he’ll be facing the best pitching of his life that’s where my projections are coming from.
Plus
You’ll see today that he’s going to stuggle against good LHP this season as well.
this
i think he’ll struggle early against good LHP, but round in to form after the ASB and start to figure it out. .285/.825/22 sounds reasonable enough to me. You are right though, you can already tell he has to work harder against left handers whereas right handers are fish in a barrel.
Again, from the Meta projections
Nate McLouth – .262 – .799 – 19
Matt Diaz – .297 – .800 – 10
Melky Cabrera – .278 – .748 – 6
Jason Heyward – .282 – .792 – 11

Heyward – .288 / .820 / 18
"My team of nine guys who hit like Albert Pujols and never ever bunt just beat your team with one Shane Victorino 472 to 3."
