Spring Training Open Thread: Yankees at Braves
The Braves and KK face the Yankees. The Yanks are apparently going to use an ambidextrous pitcher in this game.
The Braves lineup:
Melky Cabrera, RF
Martin Prado, 2B
Chipper Jones, 3B
Troy Glaus, 1B
Yunel Escobar, SS
Matt Diaz, LF
Nate McLouth, CF
Clint Sammons, C
Kenshin Kawakami, P
After KK, the pitcher should be Billy Wagner, Takashi Saito, and Scott Proctor.
Apparently Dale Murphy is at the park and will present today's lineup card. I bet we get some articles on what he thinks about Heyward.

I heard a report on XM that Heyward is fine; took BP today, but will be back in the lineup on Wednesday. Esco (back) is back today, however.
Ambidextrous Pitcher for Yankees
This guy is pitching for the Yankees today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2oD8KzxS14
He throws with both arms…so will Melky and Chipper keep swapping sides when the pitcher keeps swapping arms to throw with???
Yeah does anyone know...
what the exact rules for him are? Can he switch during the at-bat or just between the every batter? And can the hitters switch as he does?

Took a flier on Swisher in a fantasy league too
It uses OBP instead of average, so he might be a great value, especially if he realizes that it’s easy to hit HRs in Yankee stadium.

when the braves were facing the phillies the other day, brian referred to placido polanco as “one of the toughest outs to ever play the game”.
he doesnt deserve to have a job.
My opinion cant be wrong. It's my opinion. Those who don't like it can piss up a rope.

Venditte came on to pitch the last out of the innings
And the announcers had “no information on him,” which sounds like they were woefully unprepared. The guy’s a switch pitcher, for cryin’ out loud.
"Baseball is the only major sport that appears backwards in a mirror." ~George Carlin
Man, Gearrin has some nasty movement on his pitches as he throws from about a 3/4 angle and leans to the right when he throws. His pitches go into left handers and then come back across the inside part of the plate. Nasty!
Some AAA utility guy for the Yankees smashed that one off the CF wall.
"Baseball is the only major sport that appears backwards in a mirror." ~George Carlin
Saito, Wagner late in the game
Will be interesting if they can hold and save if this lead holds up
I think Gearrin could stand a little time in AAA, but probably no more than a couple of months. He’s going to be pretty good.
"Baseball is the only major sport that appears backwards in a mirror." ~George Carlin
Seems like the announcers haven’t noticed Venditte switched arms…

Interesting, Brooks Conrad came up and apparently they told him he couldn’t swap (the pitcher) as Conrad batted left and Venditte pitched righty…interesting.
He has to announce which side he’s pitching from before the hitter does. Since Conrad’s a switch hitter, Venditte had to commit to pitching righty.

I sure hope he gets assigned to AAA so I get to see him this year. I’d like to see him and Brandon Hicks in AAA.
oh yeah – hadn’t heard a thing about him this year…. whether still with the organization or still in baseball at all.
Barbaro Canizares was at first last year, but he DH’d most of the time and Wes Timmons played 1B most of the time. I think Timmons will be at 3B this year and Canizares will DH and Freeman will play first. Canizares can spell Freeman against tough lefties as he’s a RH hitter, and he’s still with the organization.
Usually
I’m drooling over the guys in the pictures. But with you, I’m drooling over the incredible quality of your pics! I had to go to Wolf the other day to return something my mom bought, and the guy there was trying pretty hard to talk me into getting a D90. Will have to look into what he was saying about a motor in some of the lenses.
D90 is a good camera (uses the D300 and D300s sensor. The motor in the lenses he’s talking about is the AF-S motor. If a lens is AF-S it means it focuses faster and that the focus motor is in the lens. If it’s not an AF-S lens then it means the focus motor on the camera drives the auto focus. Most newer lenses are AF-S, and some cameras don’t have a focus motor in the camera (like the D40 and I think the D60).
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
i almost signed up for a photography class
so maybe I could become a photographer close to some of the ones we have on TC, but decided not to. I kinda regret it..

I bought my wife the D90 last year. It’s a really good camera. I’m not a camera buff myself, but you really need to get a good lens to go with it. I didn’t get one cause a good lens costs as much as the camera. Ridiculous.
I’ll stick to playing video games. It’s a less expensive hobby at least.
Thanks for the personal rec comment. I much prefer to get opinions from actual users than the sales people. I’m so attached to my 300mm that a compatible one is a must (unfortunately this one only fits Canons). I’m trying to look around to see if there’s a shorter long range lens, though (if that makes sense). Getting tired of having to sweat it past security.
I'm pretty sure he's in minor league camp.

Maybe that’s what Jordan was attempting earlier… frankly I have no idea – I thought it was “SIGH-toe”, but that’s from hearsay only.
