His is the best, but I like this one a lot too.

Its funny you should mention that because Buckley’s version has been running through my head for the past several days

Spektor’s version was just a bit too raw, made it somewhat uncomfortable to listen too

Watch him hit a lttle over .300 with about 18 dingers – what we were hoping for last season.

"My team of nine guys who hit like Albert Pujols and never ever bunt just beat your team with one Shane Victorino 472 to 3."

Actually, I wish him the best of luck. He’s an icon, kinda- for being so old, and he deserves to go out on a high note

His average and homers weren’t really the issue, his utter lack of ability to hit the ball with any authority or willingness to hustle were more distressing.

I think he was hustling and going full throttle all the time…but he’s just old. I’m surprised he didn’t have an electric scooter in LF. Might have helped.

/Sarcasm off.

Haha, a minor league contract? I mean, I would rather retire than to play my heart out for years and end up back in the minors. But I don’t know all the ins and outs of contracts and stuff so maybe I’m wrong.

by Gage23 on Mar 3, 2010 10:50 PM EST reply actions

he won't play in the minors

basically, it’s an invite to Spring Training. If he makes the club, his contract is guaranteed.

Alright, thanks. :)

by Gage23 on Mar 3, 2010 10:57 PM EST up reply actions

What will probably happen

is that he either makes the team in Spring Training or he retires. It is essentially just an invitation to ST. If the team likes what they see they will add him to the 25 man and his contract becomes guaranteed

But I guess that means he’s fighting for a bench spot. No way he’s beating out Manny. I just don’t see a place for him there unless they are that desperate for someone to hold down the bench.

I’d rather have a uniform on my back than have to go home and do nothing. I guess we’re just different.

I mean, sure, if you love the sport. But he didn’t hustle in the majors, what makes you think he’ll hustle in the minors?

by Gage23 on Mar 4, 2010 10:09 PM EST up reply actions

I thought we were just talking about ourselves. No, FUGA won’t hustle anywhere.

Bobby Cox said he’d never seen a ball hit as hard. Hyperbole, surely, but still nice to hear. I’m a Reds fan who has Heyward on my fantasy team, so I’m rooting every day for him to make the Opening Day roster. I think he will. Cox seems to have a man-crush on him.

Also have Tommy Hanson. Go Braves! Hope the Reds see ya in the playoffs….:)

damn. that ball was smoked. from exit off bat to short hop into right-centerfield wall was like 1.648 seconds.

Wow, first Brian Giles and Mint-Cave-Itch, then FUGA… The competition for the last bench spot on the Dodgers is going to be fierce.

All this talk of Anderson getting to 3000 hits is hilarious, by the way, unless he starts juicing more than Bonds and McGwire put together.
