Comcast to Sponsor Talking Chop in 2010

We here at Talking Chop are pleased to announce that Comcast will be sponsoring us this season. I try my best to keep advertising out of our content, but every once in a while we have to pay the bills for SB Nation. Please take a moment to read over their offer... it might just save you some money.

We are grateful for their support and are pleased that they recognize the value, passion, and strength of our community enough to want to align their company with all of you. That's a huge win not just for our site but for all of us out here in the blogosphere who've known for some time where the best and most authentic sports discussion can be found. Of course, being a savvy company Comcast wouldn't be here if they weren't trying to tell us that they're the best place to get all of the baseball programming that we need to spark those discussions, and they're even extending a pretty nice offer to help convince us (more below). Now, I'll let you all decide on all of that for yourselves, but hope you'll at least consider their offer -- not just because it's a great offer, but because they're a company that understands and supports fans like us.

Here's the pitch:

  1. If you are a current Comcast customer they are offering you this sweet deal:  Digital Preferred TV with MLB Network for only $9.99 a month for the first six months
  2. If you are not yet a Comcast customer the deal is even better:  You can switch from Dish Network or AT&T and get MLB Extra Innings for the low, low price of FREE!!! And we all know how good FREE is!

Only Comcast brings you MLB Extra Innings and their great coverage of MLB Network. Dish Network and AT&T U-Verse can't say that!!!

To take part in this offer, pick up your phone and dial 1-800-COMCAST.

Thanks again to Comcast for their support -- Play Ball!

Comcast is an SB Nation partner and sponsor of the SB Nation baseball communities. This post is one of a series of sponsored posts related to our relationship with Comcast.

If only I had access to cable out here in the boonies. Nice offer that I’d take in an instant. };0)

Wait...

You can add the MLB network for $5 a month. I did it at the beginning of the month. How is this a deal?

I believe that they are giving you the entire Digital Preferred TV package, along with MLB Network, for that price.

DirecTV can. :) Also, I don’t have Comcast in my area.

Oh no, this is NOT a good sign.

But I guess sometimes you feel you have to sleep with the devil. Usually after several gin & Listerines, hmm? (Were you sober when you made this decision? rhetorical question).

Comcast did my grandparents (and lots of other people) very wrong – I volunteer for a consumer advocate every week, so I get to hear all about it from all over the country (just giving my background on my ‘discomfort’ with this venture & trust me I know they’re not the only ones). Depressing news…just not comfortable with this. Sigh.

Clarification on Comcast Offer from SB Nation

As was announced previously, Comcast has decided to partner with SB Nation on various initiatives in 2010, including a promotional relationship for the upcoming baseball season. In our excitement to launch the program, SB Nation and Comcast announced the MLB Extra Innings offer for switching from Dish Network or AT&T U-verse (where MLB EI is not yet available).

Unfortunately, it appears we may have jumped the gun on the promotion. As some of you may have already discovered, the offer is not currently available and I sincerely apologize for the missed step.

So…what does this mean? The good news is that the offer will be rolled out in many markets soon. As soon as it becomes available, we will let you know.

SB Nation sincerely appreciates your participation in this community and we apologize that this roll out was not as smooth as it should have been. We are trying hard to create an environment where passionate fans and relevant brands can coexist. Clearly, we can always do better – and we will. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly at kyle@sbnation.com.

Regards,

Kyle Ragsdale
