March Madness Open Thread

Since a bunch of us keep filling other threads talking about basketball, figured we should try to organize it a bit.

So far we've got a huge upset by St. Marys over Villanova. Seems nobody so far was to torn up by Nova losing. Games this afternoon to watch are as follows.

Murray (Present) St. vs Butler

3:49 Tennessee's Criminals (Sorry I'm a Florida Fan, but its not like I have much room to talk.) vs. Ohio

5:40 Somebody (Northern Iowa, like it really matters) vs. Kansas

5:40 Washington vs. New Mexico

5:45 Old Dominion vs. Baylor

8:10 BYU (I don't even want to think about this team) vs Kansas State

8:20 Wakeforest vs. Kentucky

Yea these games seem a bit lame. I’ll probably pay more attention to them in the second half if they are close.

Kansas – Villanova final. Count on it. My bracket did. Oh wai—

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

by soup du jour on Mar 20, 2010 8:05 PM EDT up reply actions

I had Kansas Duke in my final. At this point, I hope Duke makes it and then some nobody makes and wins the championship. Maybe I’ll get lucky with the rest of my Sweet 16 and Elite 8.

I hope we have another George Mason. UNI is as good as any.

And btw, i did a random number bracket. That has 15 of 40 correct as of 10:50 Saturday night. My real bracket has 26 of 40. I’m doing so crappy

My 9 are MSU, Tenn, OSU, Cuse, X, KSU, WVU, Duke, Baylor. I put way too much faith in UTEP and I took a shot with TEX beating UK. I had Nova, NM, and Wisconsin losing in the second rnd but to the wrong team.

I have 9/16, but only 4/8 potential EE teams and only 1 FF and no championship game participants left. So….yeah.

I also almost completely whiffed on my upset picks, with Minnesota and Utah St. eating the dust. Looking back on the bracket, I have a woeful amount of upsets picked, and picked the higher seed way too often (although I do have some upsets later on, including Butler over Syracuse).

For the record, I have Mich. St, OSU, Syracuse, Butler, K St., Kentucky, W. Va, Duke and Baylor correct to the Sweet 16.

by soup du jour on Mar 22, 2010 8:30 AM EDT up reply actions

You and I sound similar...

I got one FF team (my champ) left, completely whiffed on the Sweet 16 in the south, and have a mere 7 of 16, and I think only 3 or 4 EE. My upset picks all went nowhere, and am starting to think I should just permanently pick chalk in any future brackets.

i saw on ESPN

out of 4.6 million brackets cast, only 32,500 had UNI beating Kansas. And my guess is that 30,000 of those were cast by UNI fans picking their team just for the hell of it.
