Spring Training Open Thread: Braves at Cardinals

The Braves finish up the overnight trip to Jupiter by taking on the Cardinals today at 1pm. No television today (sad). We'll have to wait until Tuesday on the World Wide Leader for a televised Braves game. Tim Hudson gets the start for the Braves, followed by Kris Medlen, Jo-Jo Reyes, and Jeff Lyman.

I'll once again be in Minor League camp getting some interviews. Yesterday I talked with Cody Johnson (at length, he's a talker) and Brett DeVall (which should be on FoxSportsSouth.com later), and I did a little "communicating" with Edward Salcedo, who by the way, looks awesome at everything he does on the field.

Salcedo...

Great to hear he’s looking good in the field. can you tell us more about the “conversation” with him? was he personable? Get any vibe from the guy?

I’m interested on the early ideas about where Eddy Salsa fits on the prospect ladder. Each succeeding snippet I’m hearing sounds more intriguing than the last.

so many players to be discussed—Bethancourt, Milligan, RSF, Gerry Rodriguez, the plethora of Ps.

hope he has a good relief appearance today. I hope to see him in our pen next year as a middle relief guy or maybe a swingman in 2012 if Meds gets a spot in the rotation.

Chipper
Glaus

We’ll see how McLouth responds to being lower in the order and possibly having men on base…

Medlen

How long can we afford to keep Medlen out of the rotation? Or can we use him as a super setup guy every other game? The few times he pitched back to back games last year he struggled a lot, if I recall correctly.

Anyone know how he did in spring training last year?

by SwedishBrave on Mar 18, 2010 4:02 PM EDT reply actions

Well, considering that we would have to remove one of Lowe, Kawakami, Hudson, Hanson or Jurrjens to let him start, I would say that we can afford it for quite a while.
