I'm Heading Down To Spring Training
I'm super-excited, and not getting a lot of work done today, because I'm eagerly anticipating leaving for Florida and Braves spring training tomorrow. I'm hoping to follow the team to many of their stops over the next week, and I'll also have access during several games to the clubhouse where I'll be able to interview and talk to the players.
So stay tuned next week as I'll hopefully have some exclusive and exciting content.

With the big league club pretty well settled...
could you check on some of the young kids while you’re there please. Wondering things like is Salcedo already in camp, and if so how does he look? Of course, how is the progression of the plethora of young arms like Teheran, Vizcaino, Otero, Perez, Lopez, Spruill, R Delgado, Devall, Hoover, Stovall, etc? With what appears to be 23 of the 25 roster spots accounted for, I’m most curious about the kiddies.
Salcedo is still having problems with his visa and isn’t in camp yet.

Between him and Valdez...
we need to grease some wheels in either the US or Dominican.

No kidding. Soriano used to always have problems too.

Could the problem be...
a relative of Omar Minaya? Just a Braves hater in the mix.

I’ll be at Braves v. Blue Jays tomorrow and Braves @ Astros on Sunday.
The weather has been pretty terrible yesterday and today, but it is supposed to get lovely this weekend.

Things I am curious about
1. Nate McLouth’s eyes have been fixed. Thus far this has not translated into improvement at the plate — in fact, quite the contrary. What’s up w’dat?
2. Does Troy Glaus think 3rd base is a viable option for him if Chipper needs time off (whether 1 day or 15 days)? Has he done any work over there this Spring?
3. Along that same line, has any roster player been doing any RF work this Spring? [We’re all wondering if JHey makes the team immediately – a hint would be if anybody plays any RF other than JH and minor leaguers].
4. Is the RF Net in place now?
Hopefully Nate hasn’t been hanging out with TP all that much……Fuck. Nate was a force on the Pirates. I hope it clicks for him this year with us.
@ gondeee – Have fun. Need an assistant? lol

Nate
is of less value to us if we use him in the leadoff spot. He might be our best option, but I think I’d rather take my chances with the Diaz/Melky LF platoon and knock McLouth down lower in the lineup to utilize his power more.
This would be my lineup, agree or disagree?
1. Diaz/Melky (LF) 2. Yunel (SS) 3. Chipper (3B) 4. Glaus (1B) 5. McCann © 6. Heyward (RF) 7. McLouth (CF) 8. Prado (2B) 9. Pitcher
Easy on the opposition
Righty/righty to start and lefty, lefty lefty in the 5, 6 , 7……pass
The weather is horrible,
hope it clears up, and you have a great time! Looking forward to updates! Enjoy
When asked what aspects of Heyward’s game need improvement, one scout simply replied, "Nothing."
I live near Viera...
…and am planning on being there Monday night vs. the Nats….if the sun ever comes out again.
I got into Florida last night after driving through literally the worst conditions I’ve ever experienced behind the wheel. It was terrifying. Today was the day for the Nationals’ Minor League camp, but it was pissing down when I woke up and the weather report said it was going to be doing it all day long. And it was right. Fortunately, by some dumb stroke of luck, the Nationals’ Minor League camp is about the only place I go to in Florida that actually has an area to hide from the rain and get autographs. There’s a little picnic area just at the end of the clubhouse that leads to the parking lot and my buddy and I camped out all day and even though the only baseball activity was a few guys playing catch for 10 minutes in the rain, I still managed to get 86 cards signed, including some recognizable names like Chris Duncan, Joel Peralta, and Matt Nokes, and, more interesting to Braves’ fans, Luis Atilano (the guy we traded for Daryle Ward) and Tony Tarasco. So not a bad day considering that I thought the rain would ruin everything.
But, more importantly, I’ll be at the Braves complex the next two days!
I wrote a novel, it's about baseball, you should buy it: https://www.createspace.com/3407939
