Our old pal Will Startup lands with the O's

I was always a big fan of Startup, a lefty reliever who we sent to San Diego for Will Ledezma several years ago.

I’m excited! Will’s probably gonna end up here in Norfolk, which will be sweet. He’s one of my favorite guys that I’ve met with the Braves and I’m looking forward to not only getting to see him a bunch, but getting to see him pitch a bunch.

to an article from his local paper (Cartersville?). It says he’s likely to start with their AA team in Bowie.

While I’m disappointed the Braves didn’t go out and get him to add depth, I do like the sound of the Orioles having few lefty relievers giving him a better chance at making the big club.

AA? Man, the O’s are screwy. They had a bunch of guys in AA last year that should have been in Norfolk. Whatever, with the new team in Richmond I can head up there and see him. And with the way he pitches he won’t be there all year.

Oh, and the O’s signed Will Ohman to a minor league deal, so there’s some more lefty depth for them.

Damn it...

that’s another I would have liked to see with the Braves. No Damon, no Pujols, no Startup and no Ohman. Next we’re gonna see Mahay and Embree sign elsewhere. GET ON THE HORN FRANK!

Rudy! That’s my boy. I knew him back when he was with Richmond and like 8 years later I was in ST watching the Braves in Dodgertown and Rudy, who was with the Dodgers sees me and just rolls up and is like, “Hey man, how you been?” I was honestly surprised he remembered me. Good dude. I hope he coaches somewhere.

This is fun,...

but I honestly wish we had gotten Startup back. He may not be 100%, but if he is he’d be a valuable part of a bullpen. And if not, he’s still a good guy to have in your AA clubhouse.
