Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Sets Assist High In Easy Win Over Sacramento

Bulldog Country is Braves (Caravan) Country Too!

Finally the Braves Caravan made it to Athens.  There was a pretty solid turnout with about 300 or so people in line for autographs.  We were right around 100 and made it through the line rather quickly.  At least we got to wait inside away from the blistering wind.   Also, having it at Academy makes for interesting things to look at while waiting.

While waiting in line, Homer came around and took pictures with whoever wanted them and I just couldn't pass up that opportunity:

As we made it closer to the autograph table, I got a decent shot while standing on a treadmill, of Eric O'Flaherty, Clint Sammons, Matt Diaz, and Troy Glaus:

I told Clint that I got to see him play during his last year at UGA and was anxious for him to get a shot at the pros.  Here is a picture of Clint and Matty D:

Although I got the rest of the autographs on the free picture of Turner Field, I had a mini bat for Diaz to sign for a friend (the guy that made the homemade red t-shirt that reads "Matt Diaz F'N Rules" and that had his picture on here a few months ago).  I told Diaz about the shirt and he laughed as he shook his head.  He said that he had not seen it yet so hopefully JP will get to show him this year.  Here is a picture of him signing the mini bat:

Here is Glaus who said that he is ready for first base and for the spring reps to start:

Here is a shot of the table, including Wren and Hubbard, both of who were extremely nice.  Also, I asked Wren "Whats with all this Johnny Damon stuff I keep hearing about?"  He responded with a rather large smile and said "I don't know where people are getting that."  I then said that I actually feel confident about our outfield and he said that he liked how we were looking in that area so hopefully we will save some money rather than getting Damon for the reported 5 million.

Overall, a really fun time and glad this UGA student got the opportunity to check out the caravan without travelling too far from home.

Wren

Did he look like he was lying when he said that about Damon? Great pictures, thanks for sharing.

He seemed sincere when he said that he liked the outfield but I guess you can never really tell until ST starts and we see if we have Damon or not.

A spontaneous quasi-denial like that is pretty reassuring to me, as part of the Say No to Damon crowd.

Nice,

Thanks for sharing your pics and thoughts! Let the season begin! Go Braves!

When asked what aspects of Heyward’s game need improvement, one scout simply replied, "Nothing."

Great pic of you and Homer! Thanks for the recap of your experience…seems like it could’ve been a TC meet-up with so many there. Kudos on braving the windy wet cold weather!

Wren

A buddy and I were pulling into the lot as Wren was walking in (guess he drove instead of riding the bus). Asked him about Damon (we’d just heard it on XM) and Wren said with a gleam in his eye “You know I can’t talk about that”.
