Braves Catcher Brian McCann Wins Fourth Silver Slugger
As expected, Brian McCann won his fourth Silver Slugger award as the best hitting catcher in the National League. He joins Dale Murphy and Tom Glavine as the only other Braves players to win four career Silver Slugger awards. The award has existed since 1980.
McCann has won a Silver Slugger in four of his first five full seasons, with 2007 being the only exception when Russell Martin won the award.

Congrats to BMac
Although I’m not really sure if i would say it was expected. I wouldn’t have been shocked if Buster Posey had won the award.
Anyways, even with a down year (for him), McCann had one heck of a year. The hit in the ASG is one of the biggest highlights for me last season.
If Posey had won I would have gone thermonuclear. He only caught 76 games. His numbers are good and all, but it would be a travesty to give the man a silver slugger for less than a half-season’s work. McCann should have been the clear favorite with Olivo in second. Posey shouldn’t be considered until next year (assuming he catches full time).
Does Paul Emmel get a ring too?
Olivo?
Soto had a hell of a year, although didn’t play as much as Mac and for some reason hit in the 6-9 spots most of the year……

He's not done.
Dan Marino (13) and Steve Nash (13) will go down in history as being the greatest passers to never win the last game of the season.
great job Mac
He can win four Silver Sluggers, been to five All Star games, and even won All Star MVP, but can’t start the All Star? What’s up with that?

as much as i want McCann to start an ASG for him and what it would surely mean to him as a baseball player. I selfishly love that he doesn’t have to start the ASG, because that is 4-5 innings he isn’t catching and potentially wearing him down. I realize the effect is probably minuscule, but anytime off he gets is extra time he catches for the Braves

Great job, Mac!
Hopefully you can keep on winning these… though with Posey now in the big leagues, you finally have some real competition.

Awesomeness!
