Anyone want an outfielder? Anyone?

Dayton Moore, where are you? Don't you want me now that DeJesus is gone?

If only...

he refused a platoon role, and minor league assignment.. But if he were actually willing to accept the reality of his ability, I’d be willing to sign him. Split level deal, where he could possibly play in Gwinnett or perhaps fill the Matt Diaz role of lefty killer in a platoon in LF. If he were willing to take such a deal, I’d want him. But all indications are he wouldn’t accept such a role.

I don’t think it’s beyond the realm of possibilities to see Jeff sign a minor league deal with the Braves and get an invite to Spring Training. After a winter of no interest from the other 29 teams, he might jump at the chance, and who knows, he might make the team and return to some semblance of the guy we saw in 2005. Best of luck to him regardless.

But he's shown over the last several months...

to be unwilling to accept the reality that he’s a platoon player or potential AAA call up. The Mets were platooning him, and he whined to the media. The Rangers tried to bump him to the minors, and he refused. If he’d accept such a deal, I’d be for it. But his past has shown a complete refusal to accept such a role. The Royals could use an OF, while the Pirates and Nats also could use a RF. I think he can latch on to the myth that he’s a full time starter for a MLB club at least for half a season with one of them, until they get tired of trotting out a RF who’s an average defender and negative bat 6 days a week.

Excellent point. The only way he comes back to the Braves in any kind of capacity is with his hat in his hand looking for one last chance before he quits and sells life insurance or changes oil at the Jiffy Lube.

No.

No, no, no, no, no.
No, nono, no — no no no — no, no, no.
No no no no no no no no no, and no no no no no no no.
But if… no.
No? No.
No. No. I mean really…. No.
No.

Bobby Cox, advising Jeff Francoeur about being thrown out of a game: "you’ll probably have to write a $500 check. Or you can do what I do, write a $10,000 one and tell them when it runs out, let me know."

I am intrigued by your ideas...

…and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Don't kiss an ass if it's in the process of shitting on you.

No. Frakking. Way. There’s no reason to sign Jeff when Diaz is practically begging the Braves to re-sign him to a cheap deal if they fail to find a better right handed outfielder.

I’d rather overpay Matt Diaz because he is not a whiny bitch.

As Joe Simpson says, Matt Diaz is a baseball player. I’d rather see him than Francoeur for certain. I almost wonder if he could become a super sub like Infante…

Hahaha.
Dayton Moore:

Jeff is a winning-type baseball player who brings a lot of energy. But it’s like anything else. There has to be a fit. It’s been a few years since we’ve been together, but I have a lot of respect for him and how he plays the game.
