so easy to blame the ump
I know, the ump made a bad call, so, after he made that bad call, if Infante catches the ground ball Posey would not score.

We also have to score more than 0 runs to win I think.
"If I’m batting behind him (Heyward), I tell the umpire, ‘Will you please check that ball,’" Diaz said. "And he’d be like, ‘It didn’t hit the dirt.’ And I’d go, ‘It might be flat.’ He hits the ball so stinking hard."
True, but they would have been out of the inning before that even happened.
The defense is trash, but we don’t need the umpires giving teams extra outs.

Shouldn’t be much of a surprise considering who we are putting out there. We have one legit outfielder and a patchwork infield. And we are still only losing because of a missed call at 2nd.

gloat? no, simply a sadly realistic observation,
And that observation came from the way the braves have played teh last 15 or so games. I’m a fan to the core, but we barely even deserved to be in the playoffs, if you want to hate someone, hate all the players that swung at the 20 plus balls thrown that were no where near the strike zone in the first 4 innings.

Agreed
Seeing as they filmed the whole season in a month to work around DeVito’s schedule, they know he’s important

I saw a stat during the Rays game about productive outs how the rays and rangers were 1 and 2 in the league….I wonder where we rank, our situational hitting is god awful considering we have little to no power

Night everyone
I know everyone is frustrated but remember one thing
There are 30 teams in the MLB and only 8 make it to the playoffs. Despite the injuries, the bad defense and the bad offense, we are still one of the best 8 teams this season
WE all know that if we had our full team like 6 of the other teams do (minus the Twins cuz they do not have Morneau), things would be different, but those IFs dont count now

We can still win game two and take home field advantage.
Goodnight all.
And remember, its just a game.
Prayers and thoughts with Musicman and his family.
I don't know shit about baseball.
what happened to his family????

I'm encouraged, actually.
We proved we can shut down the Giants’ lineup. If we can seriously keep them that quiet with Lowe, we can do it with Hanson and Hudson too. And the offense doesn’t need to be great behind that kind of pitching, just ok.
Lowe has been better than Hanson and Lowe

It doesn't get any easier tommorow
Vs. Cain
"I'm gonna get drunk and play video games till my eyes bleed"- It's Always Sunny in Philly
Realistically, I think it does.
Lincecum, when he’s on (which he was), is probably Top 3 in baseball. That’s not Cain, not quite.
He didn't have to do much against the bottom half
But he made some excellent pitches to make our better hitters look foolish. Don’t judge them just based on their awkward swings; it’s Lincecum’s lights-out stuff which induces them.
I'm not saying he was terrible
But he DID have some control issues we took no advantage of.
That's fair.
He missed high a lot. And all the ridiculous flailing from the bottom of the order kind of masked that. But when he needed his out pitch, he had it going, and I can’t really see the Giants getting a BETTER pitching performance this series. Just very unlikely.
Yea I agree
Granted he only need a an out pitch 2 or 3 times haha.
Cain had a better season
"I'm gonna get drunk and play video games till my eyes bleed"- It's Always Sunny in Philly
You're big on results and lately, huh?
Lincecum remains the better pitcher. I will go on record right now: Cain is not going to shut us out tomorrow night. We’re not a great offensive club right now, but we’ve got more than 0 runs in us.
Can't get much worse than the one tonight
Ray Charles
"I'm gonna get drunk and play video games till my eyes bleed"- It's Always Sunny in Philly
Thats unfair to Ray
I think he’d have got that call right

no
he has worst luck then KK. Cain is really good just doesnt get the WINZ KK is just a pretty average pitcher
We all knew the braves we're running on fumes
Tim just reminded us of this fact. So many strike outs on shit pitches way out of the zone
Heyward used to be more patient
He shoulda walked every AB tonight
Won't really matter if we swing the bat like we did tonight.
Hopefully Hanson’s eye/face are ok after getting drilled with the ball earlier today.

We'll be okay. They'll make adjustments tonight and be ready tomorrow.
If we won tonight and lost tomorrow, everyone would feel great about going into ATL with a split. We still have that chance. Let’s get ’em!

precisely.
i’m not even kidding.

I love the Braves.
But as currently constituted with they will be lucky to win this series and don’t have nearly enough offense to move on.

let's not forget that the Giants are +1 on us

In the long run I’m saying. i don’t think the Giants can win next series either.

i'm an optimist, i know it...
but baseball is as temperamental as anything. We don’t have to outscore Philly in this series, just SF. And right now they’ve only managed to score one more run than we have, which even still was fluke-ish. And as I said before, if someone said we were gonna split in SF, I’m sure everyone in here would have been happy with that. We still have that opportunity…

exactly
adjustments and this team do no belong in the same sentence
I will be glad to see someone other than Pendleton giving batting tips next year
Can someone cue up the "Not this shit again!" jpg?
Seriously. This was a top 5 offense in the league this year.
What more do you want?
"Jason Heyward was a Greek philosopher reincarnated as a baseball player." - Don Sutton
Ok, agreed.
But tonight, I am staying upbeat. Our pitching was lights out; I think we’ll bring at least the medium-sized bats tomorrow.
I don’t want to blame TP. There is just simply not enough quality major league hitters in this lineup right now.

Hear hear!
And I’ll be glad to see someone other than Pendleton out there breaking Chipper’s leg and tearing Prado’s muscles out of his chest!
Oh wait! This was actually a very solid offensive club that got bit by the injury bug and is now having to start replacement-level dudes. Not the coaching staff’s fault; not even the medical staff’s fault, in these two specific cases.

this is kind of off topic

i will never understand why MLB allows this to happen

I don't want to see Brooks...in the playoffs again
Other than a PH…the guy proved he is one of the worst defenders in the playoffs/MLB
"I'm gonna get drunk and play video games till my eyes bleed"- It's Always Sunny in Philly
Positives to remember:
Derek Lowe pitched with brass balls tonight. Yes, the Giants aren’t exactly the Phillies, but Lowe pitched a gem. Did not get helped by the ump, or the defense.
Bats will not look that bad the rest of this series. I guaranfuckingtee it.

Message to Bobby:
Great gameplan…Tommorow vs. Matt Cain get some Gorilla Glue, and glue the players bats to their shoulders so they dont swing at low/shitty curveballs/sliders/changeups etc..
"I'm gonna get drunk and play video games till my eyes bleed"- It's Always Sunny in Philly
my fear is exactly the opposite...
that they come out tomorrow not staring at everything. That can be equally frustrating…
''We cover the outfield like kudzu covers the land around here" - Bobby Cox, 2004
the braves are weird
they either take strikes or swing at crap in the dirt. When we play good its a pretty good medium
It's just frustrating to see another of our pitchers
Ptich way to well to lose another game…
Jeez, I know it didn't cost a run
And it was a tough play, but could he have played that ball any worse? I won’t even begin to talk about him at the plate
Tomorrow’s lineup:
1. Omar 2B
2. Heyward RF
3. McCann C
4. Lee 1B
5. Tim Hudson CF
6. Diaz LF
7. Clubhouse Attendant SS
8. Indoor Batting Cage Pitching Machine 3B

Good night all. Remember, this is not a one and done series OR a one and done team. They've still got some fight...
GO BRAVES!!
''We cover the outfield like kudzu covers the land around here" - Bobby Cox, 2004
Lincecum wasn't that great today
No game plan at all by the hitters. Swinging at shit in the dirt. I will NOT “tip my cap” to this motherfucker. But you know the Braves will.
Honestly
Gonzalez
Diaz
Conrad
Ankiel
aka our 5-8 hitters have no business starting for a MLB team, let alone a playoff team.
