In the grand scheme of things, the Braves' absolutely under the radar signing of Christopher Garcia two weeks ago, likely doesn't amount to much at all. For although it has to be at least somewhat impressive when any young 22 year old hitter posts a .383 average with a .501 OBP/.597 SLG and tallies 90 RBI over 94 games at any level of professional baseball, he might do well to make the Danville and/or Rome teams next season, which are a long, hard road away from the bright lights of Turner Field.
Please do note, however, that after the Braves purchased his contract, the great minds at Baseball America did deem Chrisopher to be good enough for a #3 placement on their list of Independent Leagues Top 10 Prospects.
The thing I like is that our Scouting Department and Front Office are obviously out there on the hunt, searching high, low and everywhere in between for some big bats.
Is this encouraging to ya'll or am I just grasping at thin, brittle straws?
