Braves' Heyward Edges Giants' Posey As Baseball America's Rookie Of The Year
It's not the "real" ROY award given by the baseball writers after the Series is over, but it's the first of what should be many postseason honors for Jason Heyward.

Nice
Posey’s a poser

Congrats
I think they both deserve it. I Think Heyward is the better player but no one can over look what Posey did.
Admired as a saint. Defined by my rank. Combined with my strength. My time and my length.
hopefully, this is a good precursor for the "real" NL ROY
I’m still a bit bummed that Nomo edged Chipper in 1995 or Ryan Howard over Francoeur in 2005.
On the other hand, the last 2 Braves NL ROY was David Justice in 1990 and Rafael Furcal in 2000…am I sensing a pattern here?

Yay! I’m so happy for Heyward! :)
"Tony Gwynn made sacrifices. Cal Ripken made sacrifices. I'm not sure Derek Jeter made sacrifices given the ungodly deep pockets the Yankees have." - Chipper Jones

I think Posey wins the regular ROY, just because if it was close at BA, who I think will be more forward thinking, I think that the BBWAA will be more likely to go for the easiest thing to justify using regular stats, and using conventional stats, Posey looks specialer because his BA starts with a 3.
On the bright side, I’d rather impress the BA types than the BBWAA types.
But at the same time, it’s not like Posey is a slouch.

Before the playoffs I would have been 100% behind Heyward for ROY, but what Posey has been doing this postseason has changed my mind. Since the postseason doesn’t count towards the award Heyward probably will and should win it, but Posey probably does deserve it more.
I'm confused.
You understand that it’s a regular season award, and yet you still want to give Posey extra credit for what he’s done in the postseason.
I don’t WANT to give Posey anything. I’m just saying that the post season has shown that Posey probably does deserve the award, as they were close enough in the regular season. I’d still much rather have Heyward over the long run, his ceiling seems to be much higher than Posey’s. Anyway, the voting is already done, and Heyward will likely win it as he had a slightly better regular season.

The postseason is irrelevant.
It doesn’t show anything regarding the ROY award.
It’s not for who is the best rookie, but rather, what rookie had the best regular season.
That’s what I said, you should read more.

Did they vote already, and they won't release the count until after the WS?
I understand it’s a regular season award, but I can’t believe Posey’s postseason isn’t turning heads and making a difference, if a difference can be made, in ROY voting.
Yes, voting ends before the playoffs and is announced after.

Good thing, or Posey would run away with this thing.
I know it’s not “supposed” to work on the minds of voters, but it does. What have you done for me lately?
Personally
Baseball America is likely to turn out to be a far better judge of these things than the BBWAA.
