Braves' Television Shows - A John Smoltz-like Game
So, the season for the Braves (therefore, in my mind, baseball season as a whole) is over. This was just something I started doing at work to try to get me busy. My goal is to assign a television show to each of 2010 Braves (plus a few others, if they're really good). I would love some input to help me finish my list!!
The show can EITHER describe the person OR describe how you feel about the person/player. Some of the ones I came up with are good, and some are a little bit of a stretch. If I get better ideas, I'll switch them out. If I have multiple, then I'll list them all.
Also, if you're one of the really witty TC'ers, feel free to combine Braves players to create a show : for instance "Brian McCann + Jeff Francoeur = 'Friends'". If It's a non-Brave but just terribly funny, we could probably include that also; for instance: something better than "Francisco Rodriguez = Conviction".
So, here's my list so far:
Tim Hudson - The Locator ; Face the Ace ; Light's Out
Tommy Hanson - Raising Hope ; My Own Worst Enemy
Derek Lowe - LOST ; Lucky
Brandon Beachy - The Pretender
Kris Medlen - Gay, Straight or Taken?
Kenshin Kawakami - The Biggest Loser ; The Fall Guy
Brian McCann - Human Target
David Ross - Dave the Barbarian ; Human Target
Troy Glaus - Two and a Half Men
Derrek Lee - Big Brother
Freddie Freeman - Boy Meets World ; Rookie Blue
Brooks Conrad - The Late Show ; Comeback ; Minute to Win it
Alex Gonzalez - Family Matters
Omar Infante - Jack of All Trades
Chipper Jones - Covert Affairs ; Hello, Larry
Melky Cabrera - The Root of All Evil ; 10 Things I Hate About You ; Just Shoot Me
Rick Ankiel - Have Gun - Will Travel ; Cannon
Nate McLouth - Deadwood ; 24
Jason Heyward - King of the Hill ; 20/20 ; The Beast ; Hercules ; Highlander
Billy Wagner - Billy the Exterminator ; The Closer
Peter Moylan - Cracking Up ; The Crocodile Hunter
Johnny Venters - Bridge ; The Daily Show ; The Middle ; Rescue Me
Craig Kimbrel - The Closer ; The Apprentice
Kyle Farnsworth - The Last Resort
Frank Wren - The Office
Bobby Cox - American Idol ; Cheers ; Man of the People
Jeff Francoeur - I Love Money ; Press Your Luck
Freddie Gonzalez - Coach ; The Apprentice
Dale Murphy - Fringe ; Father Murphy
Greg Maddux - The Mentalist ; The Locator ; Light's Out
John Smoltz : Light's Out
Multiples:
Braves bench - Heroes
Jason Heyward & Freddie Freeman - Futurama
Jason Heyward & Nate McLouth - M*A*S*H
Chipper Jones, Takashi Saito, & Billy Wagner - Men of a Certain Age
Non-Braves:
Tim Lincecum - Weeds
Scott Boras - Jackass ; How'd I Get So Rich?
Brian Cashman & the Yankees FO - Hoarders
New York Mets' fans - Mad Men
Here's who I'm missing:
Mike Minor, Jair Jurrjens, Martin Prado, Yunel Escobar, Diory Hernandez, Matt Diaz, Eric Hinske, Gregor Blanco, Takashi Saito & Jo-Jo Reyes
Again, feel free to add any former Braves, come up with better options for the ones I have, or add any non-Braves if it's really, REALLY funny!
If this works out well, maybe we can try movies, bands/songs, or something else too.
TC'ers suggestions:
Braves bench - Heroes, Freddie Freeman & Jason Heyward - Futurama, John Rocker - Eastbound & Down, Omar Infante - Jack of All Trades, Brooks Conrad - Minute to Win it ; The Late Show, Melky Cabrera - The Root of All Evil, Johnny Venters - Rescue Me, Nate McLouth - Deadwood, Brian McCann & David Ross - Human Target, Kris Medlen & Craig Kimbrel - Kids in the Hall, Chipper Jones, Billy Wagner & Takashi Saito - Men of a Certain Age, Tim Lincecum - Weeds

I definitely like the one for Troy.

Crap. After all the TV show ideas I had this season, I can’t think of a contemporary one that matches a Brave.
Gimme a minute.
Oh! Oh! Brian McCann in The Deadliest Catch. That doesn’t really make sense, does it?
I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing Matt Cain.
Maybe if it was Catch(er) :(
Added all of the ones I really liked :)

This is silly, but fun
Here are some non-Braves:
Elijah Dukes - Eight is Enough- Lie to Me
Jeff Kent -
Tim Lincecum — Weeds
Apparently I had a dash fail...
…but now I am closer to learning how to do the cross out script, lol.
Really like the “Weeds” one. I’m mad at myself for not thinking about it first.

Yunel Escobar
Spaced…
On a related note, thank you Simon Pegg and BBN. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. A little weird, but hilarious once you fully pick up on all the Brit humor.

It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?
Billy Wagner.... Billy the Exterminator
Bobby Cox, advising Jeff Francoeur about being thrown out of a game: "you’ll probably have to write a $500 check. Or you can do what I do, write a $10,000 one and tell them when it runs out, let me know."
Gee, what channelos do I watch the most?
Ed Mangan – Dirty Jobs
Jason Heyward – Modern Marvels, Build it Bigger
Brian Cashman – Hoarders
Frank Wren – the Price is Right

I'm just wondering who qualifies as - Good Eats.

Hey, I could have said “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” but I thought it might be too racy and totally out of character . . ;-)

Chino Cadahia = The Biggest Loser, Superzize vs Superskinny, Weighing In, Celebrity Fit Club, Jake and the Fatman
Morgan: Do you think I could come into the clubhouse after the game and display my ass for both those veterans and the younger guys?
Baker: Well, Joe, you are on the payroll of the team, and you're a legend, so I suppose — holy shit!
[Joe has appeared next to Dusty, in the dugout, completely naked]
Morgan: Hey.
Kris Medlen – 17 again (its a movie, but it works)

I’m adding some of the good ones and changing a few up.
Once we get the list finished, maybe we’ll start with movies (MLB1) and instead of me starting a list, we’ll just let TC’ers come up with the entire list themselves.

He is the twin brother of Craig.
He is also a pitcher, but he is lefty. He has 3-digit fastball, nasty slider and changeup.
The scout reports compare him with Billy Wagner.
Melky = The Weakest Link, Lost in Space
Prado & Infante = The Adventures of Chico and Guapo
Derrek Lee = Chicago Hope
Kris Medlen = Car 54, Where Are You?
Kyle Farnsworth = Journeyman
