I expect the Braves to make the playoffs next year with their current roster, but Wren needs to make some upgrades in the outfield for them to be a true championship contender.

The good news is he should have a decent amount of payroll flexibility after declining the options of and non-tendering unproductive players plus of course the Braves have plenty of surplus pitching to trade to upgrade the offense.

I only voted as low as 7 because I’m not sure he’ll actually make the significant moves I’d like to see.

Addition by Subtraction. Time to dump the dead weight. I don’t expect any blockbuster action this off season. Jurrjens, Minor and Beachy are our most valuable trade pieces, and are not that valuable right now. I think Wren will sign a couple of “lessor” free agents, bring up some minor leaguers and wait until June or July for a blockbuster trade for a controllable stud outfielder.

It’s still tough to shake that horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that was created by their play at the end of the season and in the playoffs, but I know this is a great organization. The braves need to get chipper, jair, and medlen back healthy and bring in at least 1.5 new starting outfielders, even if they are only somewhat above average guys. Been there most of the season. While the end was not what I would like to have seen, there is a solid foundation for the future. While we could use upgrades at a few positions, which team could not. We made the playoffs, although we limped in. We improved upon last year’s record, which was a vast improvement over 2008. We are difinitely headed in the right direction.
