Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll - End Of Week

We took two Atlanta Braves fan confidence polls last week, one on Friday after the Phillies series, and one on Monday (the normal one) after the Nationals series. Both of them came back with the same low confidence, 52%. That's down from the 70% the week before after we had just swept the Mets.

Fcp-20100927_medium

This is all part of the ups and downs of the FCP the past couple of months. This is also a reminder that the last time we played Philly we had just finished sweeping a team.

I'm going to put up another poll today and get a feel for what the confidence level is before this series and after our latest sweep.

Poll
On a scale of 1-to-10, with 10 being "100 percent confident," and 1 being "no confidence at all," how confident are you in the Atlanta Braves organization?

Braves Lineup via DOB Twitter:

1. Infante 2B,
2. Heyward RF,
3. McCann C,
4. Lee 1B,
5. Cabrera LF,
6. McLouth CF,
7. Gonzalez SS,
8. Conrad 3B,
9. Beachy

Why is Conrad batting 8th? IDK. I just hope AGon can get step up a hit more consistently… especially with RISP

Not my favorite line up order either, but it falls mainly on the first four to score runs.

Where did all the 4s and 5s go?

Are you kidding me? One 3-game sweep of the Marlins and you change from 4s to 8s?

Please, some consistency. I don’t think I’ve voted anything other than 7 or 8 since I started seeing these.

These FCPs are becoming more and more pointless

52% confidence and we were a game out of being the 2nd best team in the NL.

Really...I mean...what's with all the chicken littles?

I mean, it does say “confidence in the Braves organization

There should almost be two different polls:

1. How confident are you with this year’s TEAM?
2. How confident are you with the organization?

I think people get the two mixed up.

I wonder...

What the FCP would reflect if we eliminated the votes of anyone voting that signed up after the All-Star Break.

I have a feeling something has been amiss since around the last series with Philly, although none of their regular posters have been found voting 1s and what-not (alternate accounts, etc., notwithstanding).

I don’t think it’s solely a Philly issue, just seems like as a whole you’re seeing WAY more fluctuation lately than in past polls. Maybe more nay-saying Braves fans have signed up since then as well…we’ve certainly had enough of those pop up lately.

It’s rough to sit through these games and not have someone that can’t hit a Ball?

by cthabeerman on Oct 1, 2010 6:12 PM EDT reply actions

Simple solution: Start the poll at 5 (50%-100%)

IMO, if you vote less than 5, can you really wear the mantle of a “fan” of the organization in any way?

Weeellll

What about the pirates, royals and orioles? I think their poll should range from 0-5.

Somebody explain to me

Dont take this the wrong way, because I know you will. Why do we want the Braves to get in to the playoffs? They have limped down the stretch, losing several key players along the way, as well as trades that didn’t pan out. They haven’t been able to beat teams they should, and aren’t doing any better against teams they need to beat. What makes us think they will do any better against the teams they will see in the Division series and the LCS? They arent the same team they were in June. I want them to get to the playoffs, but not by default, and I sure as hell dont want them to get embarrased in the first round. Maybe I am just a bit disgruntled, especially watching tonight’s game, but this isn’t looking like a team that can win in the playoffs. One error tonight broke it open, that has to stop. I was pretty excited early when they scored first and when they tied it back up, but after that the bats seem to go flat, if they didn’t start that way in the first place. Call me a fair weather fan if you want, but having a 7 game lead 2 months ago to being down 7 sucks. That being said my confidence level in the organization is probably at 5 right now. I think there is some fabulous talent that will be fun to watch next year, but with Wren making these trade when they weren’t absolutely necessary makes me wonder. Schuerholz used to the same thing, knee jerk gotta make a trade reaction. We had a great team in June/July, I am all for making a team better, but on paper, these trades didn’t do that and reality proved it. Now, lets win the next two before I have a breakdown.

Mikey, if the Braves make the playoffs, Heyward, Hanson, Beachy, Infante, Kimbrel, Venters, and probably a few more will get their 1st experience at playoff baseball. You are absolutely right, they don’t look like WS contenders right now. But in short series, anything can happen. From getting hot, to getting swept. I dread the latter, but am focusing on the future, and with the contracts that end in the next 2 years and the guys we have getting ready, ANY playoff experience is a good thing…..just my opinion.

I can’t disagree with the value of experience, and the young kids need a taste of the postseason and I hope they can get hot. I do apologize I sound like such a downer, I am beyond frustrated at this point. I thought we were a shoe in for the division two months ago. I am also sad baseball season is coming to an end, it is the only sport I really follow.

Me too, starting in ST I felt we had a very good team, May-August were all the proof you could hope for. Sept really sucked. The lineup is so incredibly different from at the beginning of the year, the outfield….what can be said. In February, I thought Heyward, Cabrera, Diaz and McLouth would be as solid as any we could hope for. Honestly, Heyward is the only one I can see building anything around. I thought we might survive 2011 with Diaz and McLouth in LF, I’m not so sure anymore. McLouth’s $6.5M is looking like a cement block around the team right now. I hope things work out, I love my Braves, but we are in a bit of a pickle right now.

That and the playoffs means more revenue...

from ticket sales to playoff share of the TV payout. More money coming in means hopefully Liberty is willing to invest more on the playing field (see the Phillies of late as an example of playoff revenue being used to increase payroll).
