Braves Quote For The Day

Ah, to relish in the woes of a division rival:

Anyone else get the feeling Joel Pineiro will need Tommy John surgery for merely negotiating with the Mets

That was a tweet from New York Post writer Joel Sherman. The whole Carlos Beltran surgery thing last night was pretty fun to watch unfold on Twitter. The New York press jumps to the most insane conclusions.

Here’s a better quote I just heard on ESPN that had me cackling for a few minutes.

Jeff Francoeur, he could possibly fill in in center field for Beltran

Teehee.

I almost feel sorry for the Mets….hang on… okay, I’m over that.

I'm thinking it'll be Bay...

after all, they said he was better defensively than Holliday because he filled in at CF for the Pirates 5 years ago.

But wait, they have a better OF than us....

shouldn’t we all panic?

And microfracture surgery? Isn’t this the thing that took Amare Stoudamire and many other NBA players a long time to recover from? Although I’d love to see the Mets sue their own player and void his contract, that would be wonderful for team morale.

Yeah if it’s really a microfracture procedure (which fits the 12 weeks report a LOT better than a ‘Scope job), I’ve heard that’s pretty risky… full recovery is certainly not assured.

yes

especially for someone over 30. The general consensus is that the older an athlete is the harder it will be for them to recover from microfracture surgery. Amare came back from it but he was like 21, 22 when he had the surgery. He’s also less explosive now.

And it also took him over a year to recover...

12 weeks was more like 12 months, if not longer, for him and others.

He did...ish.

He went over to Europe and got something similar, but it wasn’t quite full-blown microfracture.

Advance apologies if the contents of this sports-based post offended you. I'm just aiming to educate the masses. My law professor says they're asses.
